The Grant Writer has primary responsibility for the preparation and submission of corporate, foundation, and government grants as assigned, to advance the mission of ForKids.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Write proposals and collaborate with other team members to develop complete application packets for local, state, national foundations, and other public and private funding opportunities.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure files are maintained in accordance with contract requirements.
- Maintain current knowledge of local, state and national foundations whose mission aligns with that of ForKids.
- Maintain current knowledge of federal, state and local government grant opportunities which support the mission of ForKids.
- Work with data and reporting staff to gather data relevant to applications.
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of government, corporate, and foundation grant applications which support the mission of ForKids.
- Maintain current knowledge of the application process and related goals necessary to maintain ForKids as an agency in good standing with local United Ways in ForKids’ service areas.
- Identify, define, and develop funding sources to support existing and planned program activities as well as lead the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals to national, local, and governmental entities.
- Research connections between ForKids staff, board, and statements with foundation boards and program officers and determine feasibility.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Provide service to internal and external customers according to standards as outlined in ForKids Customer CARE Manual.
Financial Management:
- Use agency resources (financial and non-financial) prudently.
- Acknowledge and follow financial policies of the agency.
Community Engagement:
- Participate in development and fundraising activities as needed and requested (ex: meeting with donors, providing tours, attending fundraising events).
Regularly engage, support and collaborate with volunteers to provide a meaningful experience.
