Standard Job Description

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Controls Technical Specialist who will perform technical execution scope associated with flight vehicle control system design, algorithm development, software integration, sensor system modeling & analysis, performance analysis, hardware integrated testing, and weapons system verification.
In this role, you should anticipate:
• Working on advanced missile control system architecture, design, integration, testing, and analysis within hypersonic weapon system programs
• Leveraging past experience in weapon system and missile system/subsystem development and analysis to shape current and future program execution
• Collaborating with program managers, systems and software engineering or engineering leaders to delivery component(s)/subsystem(s), designs, and analysis to programs
• Provides programmatic direction to engineering staff and team(s), collaborates on execution, analysis, design/peer reviews

  •
  • Designs, develops, implements, verifies and tests algorithms to perform guidance, navigation and control of aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicles and upper stages during powered and coast phases of flight, earth orbit, interplanetary cruise and orbital insertion, as well as during staging events. Navigation functions include the statistical processing of measured data points and their substitution into algorithms simulating physical reality. Guidance functions include the formulation of specific equations and control laws to achieve a desired position in space. Control design and analyses processes consist of the development of the control requirements for aircraft, launch vehicles and/or spacecraft.

Basic Qualifications

Skill Requirements:
• B.S. or M.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Strong foundation in missile flight dynamics, stability, and/or maneuvering
• Expertise in control theory (E.g. classical, state space, optimal, robust, adaptive)
• Proficient in MATLAB/Simulink for modeling, linearization, and/or Monte Carlo analysis
• Knowledge of software methods or standards including safety critical items and/or version control systems (Git, Gitlab, Artifact repos)
• Ability to develop and execute unit, integration, and/or system level test plans (HIL, SIL, flight test)
• Strong written and oral communication skills for cross functional teams and senior leadership
• Experience with real time embedded software and/or model based code generation
• Proficiency with high fidelity simulation tools and experience designing and/or maintaining control system models

Desired Skills

  • Skill Expectations:
    • Direct experience with thrust vector control
    (hydraulic, electromechanical, flexible nozzle,
    RCS) actuation systems
    • Experience with real time embedded software
    and model based code generation

    • Real time implementation and optimization of
control algorithms within embedded software or
    firmware applications
    • Experience in development and integration of a
    high-fidelity vehicle simulation including thrust
vector control and bending structural dynamics
    • Demonstrated experience with test and tactical
flight algorithm performance evaluation in the
    frequency and time domains
    • Proficiency in hardware in the loop (HIL) test
