    The Weld Re-9 School District headquartered in Ault, Colorado has an anticipated open position at Highland High School for the 2026-2027 school year.
     
    Job Title:         High School Teacher                                                   FLSA Status: Exempt
    Reports To:     High School Principal                                                  Days per Year: 185
    Job Location:  Highland High School                                                 Hours per Week: 40+
    Revision Date: March 6, 2026                                                            Pay Range: Licensed Salary Schedule
     
    Summary: High School Teachers are responsible for instructing students in grades 9-12. They create lesson plans and well-rounded, comprehensive instructional programs.
     
    Primary Responsibilities:  
     

    • Develop course content in relation to the Colorado Academic Standards
    • Plan, organize, and implement effective instructional strategies and lessons
    • Monitor and evaluate student progress
    • Collaborate with colleagues in department and building level administration
    • Develop individualized lessons and programs for students as needed
    • Communicate students' academic progress and needs with appropriate stakeholders
    • Administer, edit, proofread, and grade student work in a timely manner
    • Any and all other duties as assigned


    Requirements: 

    • Bachelor's Degree with a teaching certification is preferred, but not required
    • Endorsement, certification, degree, passing PRAXIS score, or being highly qualified in area of instruction is preferred, but not required
    • Candidates must possess or be able to obtain a Colorado Teaching License. The Weld Re-9 School District considers candidates pursuing alternative pathways to the classroom

    Salary and Benefits:

    Salary range is $50,000-$65,750 per year depending on education, years of teaching experience, and professional development credits.  Salary schedules are updated each spring for the following school year. See the Licensed Salary Schedule under the Employment Opportunities tab.  The district provides health insurance benefits including dental and vision, PERA retirement plan, life insurance, long-term disability, an optional supplemental 401(k) plan, an employee assistance plan, a tuition reimbursement program, and the ability to enroll in supplemental insurances and savings accounts through a third-party vendor.  Weld RE-9 offers sick leave and personal leave as well as other benefits specific to our school district.
