Position Summary

The Hybrid/Electric Bus Certification Program Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality training to learners pursuing to learn the Safety and Fundamentals and Systems, Components and Troubleshooting of Hybrid/Electric Buses. This role requires strong technical expertise, a commitment to safety, and the ability to teach both theoretical and hands-on skills in accordance with Skills Trade Ontario requirements. 

Responsibilities

  • Deliver classroom, shop, and lab instruction on:
  1. High Voltage Safety and Hybrid Vehicle Systems
  2. Introduction to Hybrid and Electric Bus Overview
  3. Introduction to High Voltage Battery Systems 
  4. Introduction to Drive Systems, Brake and Regenerative Braking
  5. Hybrid and Electric Bus Maintenance and Accessory Systems
  6. Advance Troubleshooting and Systems Overview 
  • Teach and demonstrate the proper use of testing instruments.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and professional learning environment with strict adherence to safety protocols.
  • Assess student learning through quizzes, practical evaluations, and review sessions, providing clear and supportive feedback.
  • Ensure all instructional materials, tools, and equipment are properly maintained and used according to Centennial College and Skills Trade Ontario safety policies.
  • Complete required documentation such as attendance records, exam envelopes and reporting.
  • Work collaboratively with program staff to ensure course content remains aligned with the most current version practices in hybrid and electric bus technology.

 

Qualifications/Experience

  • Valid 310T Technician License (Truck and Coach certification).
  • Minimum five (5) years of industry experience working with Hybrid/Electric buses.
  • Completion of high-voltage hybrid/EV safety and systems training program.
  • Strong, up-to-date knowledge of hybrid/EV industry safety standards.
  • Excellent communication and instructional skills, with the ability to support learners of varying technical backgrounds.
  • Ability to demonstrate and supervise safe operation of hybrid and electric buses and equipment.
  • Previous teaching, training, or apprenticeship-supervision experience. (Preferred)
