Job Description and Duties

Interested in fighting healthcare fraud? Then the Division of Medi-Cal Fraud and Elder Abuse (DMFEA) is the place you want to be. The mission of the Division of Medi-Cal Fraud and Elder Abuse as the State’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit involves investigating and prosecuting, both criminally and civilly, (a) healthcare providers who defraud the Medi-Cal program and (b) those who abuse or neglect elderly and dependent adults in designated facilities.

 

The Division of Medi-Cal Fraud and Elder Abuse is looking for an Information Technology Specialist (ITS) I – this is an opportunity highly qualified applicants should not miss.

Under the general direction of the Information Technology Manager (ITM) I, Division of Medi-Cal Fraud and Elder Abuse (DMFEA), the incumbent acts as the full journey-level analyst, Client Support Specialist; and performs a variety of hands-on technical activities to support the endpoint devices, hardware, both client-side applications and cloud software as a solution (SaaS) utilized by DMFEA.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Endpoint & Hardware Maintenance: Diagnose, repair, and deploy end-user hardware, including fixing broken laptops, displays, component replacements, and peripheral setup.
  • System Imaging & Deployment: Configure and image division personal laptops using standardized enterprise deployment tools to ensure baseline compliance.
  • Identity & Access Management: Manage user profiles, group memberships, and computer objects within Active Directory (AD)/Entra ID.
  • Remote Support: Provide comprehensive tier-2 technical troubleshooting by remotely accessing user laptops to resolve operating system and application issues.
  • Mobile Device Management (MDM): Set up, provision, and maintain government-issued iOS devices (iPhones/iPads) using MDM policies and security standards.
  • Local Network (LAN) Support: Assist with local area network troubleshooting, including verifying physical network drops, patch cables, and basic connectivity issues.
  • Procurement & SOW Assistance: Identify endpoint hardware and software purchasing needs, research technical specifications, and assist with drafting Statements of Work (SOWs) for vendor procurement.
  • Application Troubleshooting: Act as the journey-level lead for troubleshooting and maintaining client-side functionality of the investigative case management tools as multiple productivity software solutions.

Working Conditions

Telework is available but is contingent on DMFEA's operational needs. Telework requires California residency. This position requires you to work in the office a minimum of three days a week. Travel will be required to the DMFEA regional offices and throughout California, sometimes without advanced notice. Travel may be required out of state.

Please note that the Information Technology Specialist I (ITS I) classification contains multiple salary ranges. For current state employees and/or those with reinstatement rights, your salary will be determined in accordance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations. New-to-State employees will be given the minimum salary Range A, unless you meet Alternate Range Criteria 484 as follows:

  • A: $6,513 - $8,729
  • B: $7,163 - $9,599
  • C: $7,864 - $10,537

  • Hardware Repair & Imaging: Proficiency in diagnosing physical component failures, and imaging/deploying PCs and related equipment.
  • Identity Management: Experience managing users and permissions within a Windows environment.
  • Mobile Support: Experience provisioning and maintaining iOS devices in an enterprise environment.
  • Procurement Literacy: Experience with the State of California’s purchasing lifecycle. The ability to research technical specs and assist with drafting Statements of Work (SOW) and submitting requests for purchases (RFP/RFO).

1.   Describe your background, job-related experience,
education, and/or training in Information Technology, specifically in desktop
support that makes you qualified for this position.

 

2.   Describe your experience diagnosing, repairing, and
deploying enterprise endpoint hardware and client-side systems. In your
response, specifically highlight your hands-on experience imaging personal
computers (PCs), troubleshooting physical hardware components (such as broken
laptop/desktop displays), utilizing Active Directory (AD) for identify and user
management, and supporting local network (LAN) connectivity.

3.   Detail your professional experience managing the lifecycle
of IT assets, including both Hardware Asset Management (HAM) and Software Asset
Management (SAM). Specifically describe your proficiency utilizing ServiceNow
(or a similar ITSM platform) to track inventory, audit software
compliance/licensing allocations, and maintain device accuracy from procurement to disposal. Please include any methods you have used to maintain tight physical organization of technology equipment.
