Job Description:

The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end management of IT infrastructure, covering both cloud-based and on-premises environments. This role ensures the stability, security, and scalability of critical systems and services, contributing directly to business continuity and service reliability. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, implement, monitor, and enhance infrastructure solutions that support modern application delivery and enterprise operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Infrastructure Design & Implementation:

    Design, deploy, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performing IT infrastructure solutions across cloud and on-premises environments, aligned with business and technical requirements.

  • Collaboration with Development Teams:

    Work closely with software development and DevOps teams to ensure infrastructure is optimized for efficient, reliable, and secure application deployment and lifecycle management.

  • System Monitoring & Performance Optimization:

    Monitor infrastructure health and performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues to ensure high availability, disaster recovery readiness, and service continuity.

  • Maintenance & Support:

    Provide ongoing support, incident resolution, system upgrades, and enhancements to existing infrastructure components including servers, networks, databases, and storage systems.

  • Security & Compliance:

    Implement and maintain robust security practices, ensuring compliance with internal policies and industry standards, including access controls, patch management, and data protection measures.

  • Technology Evaluation & Innovation:

    Continuously research and evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies to drive innovation and efficiency across infrastructure operations.

  • Reporting & Documentation:

    Provide regular updates to management on system performance, incident metrics, infrastructure improvements, and risk mitigation strategies. Maintain accurate documentation of infrastructure configurations and procedures.

 

This is a hybrid position, requiring 2 days per week in the office located in Olaias, Lisbon.

Fluency in both Portuguese and English is required for effective communication with local and international teams.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for the Infrastructure Engineer role brings a combination of technical expertise, problem-solving ability, and strong communication skills. We are looking for professionals who either possess the following competencies or are actively developing them:

  • Solid hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, as well as on-premises infrastructure built on Linux and Windows environments.

  • Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, routing, and switching.

  • Proficiency in virtualization and containerization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, Kubernetes, and Docker.

  • Experience with infrastructure automation and scripting using tools like PowerShell, Python, Bash, Terraform, and Ansible.

  • Understanding of backup and disaster recovery strategies, with exposure to tools such as Datto, as well as cloud-based and on-premises backup solutions.

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve complex infrastructure issues.

  • A proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement and adaptability in fast-paced, evolving environments.

  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity principles, industry best practices, and regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001).

  • Experience with security tools, vulnerability management, and threat mitigation strategies.

  • Ability to ensure secure configurations and maintain compliance across systems and platforms.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly document infrastructure processes, solutions, and technical guidelines.

  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to train and support team members on tools and practices within the area of responsibility.
