Job description

Description

Application deadline: Aug 29, 2026

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

Amazon Web Services is looking for a Infrastructure Technical Program Manager to support and deploy one of the world’s largest and most complex telecommunication networks. The role is responsible for the execution of a strategic plan to improve the business processes and deployment of hyper-scaled cloud infrastructure, creation of a quality control system for North and South America (NASA), pre/post-inspections for design validation, and piloting stakeholder communication for delivery schedules. This opportunity is within the Global Connectivity Infrastructure Delivery - Fiber Deployment organization, which is responsible for project management, quality and delivery of fiber capacity for the physical network solutions that drive Amazon’s internal infrastructure and connect our services to the world.

Key job responsibilities
- Reporting and Leadership: Reports to NASA GCID-FD Deployment Manager; provides regular updates to NASA and Global Senior management
- Strategic Partnership: Serves as key member of North/South America GCID-FD team, driving overall Network Infrastructure strategy
- Vendor Management: Manages vendor delivery timelines, measures progress, and rates performance through quality KPIs
- Quality Program Development: Builds quality management program tracking defects, mitigating risks, standardizing root cause analysis, and implementing performance measures
- Reporting and Stakeholder Communication: Creates standardized reporting for MFP&A; delivers regular deployment progress updates to management and stakeholders
- Network Plan Tracking: Manages approved network plans with internal customers and construction vendors through to in-service delivery
- Cross-Functional Program Management: Simultaneously manages multiple competing projects/programs, some at global scale
- Daily Collaboration: Interfaces with engineers, technicians, vendors, and senior management
- Physical Audits: Audits completed construction, reviews fiber test results, and hands off deliverables to internal customers
- Risk and Escalation Management: Anticipates bottlenecks, manages risk/escalations, and balances business needs vs. technical constraints
- Site Access Coordination: Coordinates access and approvals for security-regulated sites

A day in the life
This role oversees deployment of infrastructure, and iterative procedural changes. This includes travel to the field, generation of weekly reports, and updating standards and specifications for a global deployment team. This position requires onsite visits to physical locations and is not a full time remote job. Physical inspections and learning the technical standards for outside and inside fiber plant is required.

About the team
The Global Connectivity Infrastructure Delivery - Fiber Deployment (GCID-FD) team is responsible for planning, managing, and delivering physical fiber optic network infrastructure across North and South America. The team partners with construction vendors, engineers, and internal stakeholders to deploy large-scale fiber networks on time and to the highest quality standards. Through rigorous vendor management, quality control programs, and cross-functional collaboration, GCID-FD ensures network infrastructure moves from approved plans to in-service delivery. The team drives network strategy, manages risk, and coordinates complex deployments across security-regulated sites to support global connectivity goals.

Basic Qualifications

- 3+ years of technical infrastructure management experience
- Knowledge of best practices and emerging technologies, related to infrastructure (i.e. network, data center, hardware, software)
- Experience with varying scenarios of infrastructure builds
- You must have 3+ years experience managing third-party construction or infrastructure vendors, including tracking delivery timelines, measuring performance through KPIs, and implementing corrective actions when quality standards.
- You must have 3+ years experience auditing completed construction, reviewing fiber test results or similar deliverables, and coordinating site access in security-regulated environments.
- You must have 3+ years experience proactively identifying deployment bottlenecks, managing escalations, and balancing business needs against technical constraints to keep projects on track.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience working in a network planning, network construction/implementation, or commercial implementation role at an ISP, telecoms operator, or Hyperscaler
