Proximus Global (BICS) is seeking a
motivated Medior IP Network Engineer to operate, maintain, and evolve
our IP network infrastructure. The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in IP
networking, is eager to deepen their technical expertise, and thrives in a
collaborative, fast-paced service provider environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot IP network equipment and
services in line with established standards and runbooks - Execute planned network changes including hardware
replacements, software upgrades, and capacity extensions - Contribute to the design and testing of technical solutions
under the guidance of senior engineers - Participate in incident management, perform initial root cause
analysis, and escalate complex issues as needed - Maintain and update system documentation, network diagrams, and
operational procedures - Support the software and hardware lifecycle of network
infrastructure - Collaborate with vendors and colocation providers on routine
operational tasks (cross-connects, RMAs, circuit activations)
Essential Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, IT, Electronics, or a
related field - Cisco or Alcatel SR certification at Associate/Professional
level, or equivalent hands-on experience - Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in a Telecom/Internet
service provider environment or with a network vendor - Demonstrated working knowledge in the following areas
(including but not limited to): - Cisco IOS, IOS-XE and/or Nokia SROS
- IPv4 and IPv6 routing protocols (BGP, IS-IS, MPLS
fundamentals) - L2 and L3 VPN service delivery
- Basic Quality of Service concepts and implementation
- Familiarity with network troubleshooting tools and
methodologies - Basic scripting skills (Python preferred) for task automation
Preferred Qualifications:
- Interest in or initial exposure to Segment Routing and Traffic
Engineering concepts - Awareness of Infrastructure-as-Code principles and network
automation frameworks - Familiarity with programmable network interfaces (RESTful APIs,
NETCONF/YANG) - Experience with operational monitoring tools such as Nagios,
Splunk, or Netcool
