Position Type - Full Time

Education Level - Master’s degree in a behavioral health field required.

Salary Range - $5489-$5603 (DOE) Salary/month

Description

The Jail-Based Competency Restoration (JBCR) Program Coordinator is responsible for the implementation and coordination of competency restoration services provided in the jail setting. This program supports recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and evidence-based practices for justice-involved individuals with serious mental illness and co-occurring disorders.

The JBCR Program Coordinator provides clinical oversight, coordination and consultation related to JBCR service delivery.

This role supports MHMRCV’s mission to improve clinical engagement, stabilization, and treatment outcomes for individuals involved in the forensic mental health system.

 

 

Education, Training, & Experience

•             Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage & Family Therapy, or related behavioral health field from an accredited institution

•             Minimum of 2–3 years clinical experience working with individuals with serious mental illness

• Experience in forensic, crisis, inpatient, jail, or community mental health settings preferred

 

 

License / Certification Requirements

 

  • Current Texas licensure such as LCSW, LPC, LMFT, Psychologist, or RN (with psychiatric specialty)
  • Valid Texas driver’s license
  • Must be insurable under MHMRCV insurance guidelines
  • CPR / First Aid and PMAB training required upon hire
  • Will obtain Illness Management and Recovery certification during orientation 

 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical oversight and direct service delivery within the JBCR program
  • Provide individual psychoeducation, skills training, and therapeutic services
  • Coordinate restoration services in collaboration with courts, attorneys, jail administration, and community partners
  • Supervise, support, and provide clinical consultation to assigned program staff
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary case staffing and treatment planning
  • Ensure program fidelity to JBCR standards, state guidelines, and grant requirements
  • Promote trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and recovery-oriented care
  • Support discharge planning and linkage to community mental health and supportive services
  • Participate in program development, quality improvement, and outcome evaluation activities
  • Assist in strengthening system partnerships to support effective forensic mental health service delivery

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Experience in competency restoration services or forensic behavioral health
  • Knowledge of Texas forensic mental health statutes and court processes
  • Experience working within jail or correctional environments
  • Program development or supervisory experience
  • Familiarity with recovery-oriented and trauma-informed treatment models
  • Experience working with co-occurring disorders and justice-involved populations
