The Java Full Stack Developer will collaborate with developers, architects, DevOps engineers, Product Owners, Scrum teams, business stakeholders, and Federal partners to deliver secure, scalable, and high-quality solutions supporting mission-critical applications and modernization initiatives. The successful candidate will participate across the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), leveraging Agile methodologies, cloud-native technologies, CI/CD practices, and AI-assisted development tools to improve software quality, productivity, and delivery outcomes.

What You Will Do:

You will contribute to building secure, scalable, and user-centric enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, ReactJS, RESTful APIs, microservices, relational databases, and AWS cloud technologies. Working closely with cross-functional teams, including architects, developers, DevOps engineers, Product Owners and other business stakeholders, you will help deliver mission-critical solutions that support application modernization and business operations.

This role emphasizes strong software engineering fundamentals, full-stack application development, collaboration, continuous learning, and the delivery of high-quality solutions in an Agile environment. The successful candidate will leverage modern development practices, cloud-native technologies, DevSecOps principles, and AI-assisted development tools to accelerate software delivery, improve code quality, enhance testing and troubleshooting, and increase engineering productivity while adhering to security, compliance, and Responsible AI standards.

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain full-stack enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, ReactJS, REST APIs, and microservices architectures.

  • Develop responsive user interfaces and scalable backend services that support business processes, integrations, and mission-critical operations.

  • Collaborate with architects, developers, business analysts, QA engineers, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into secure, scalable, and maintainable technical solutions.

  • Develop, optimize, and support database schemas, SQL queries, data access layers, and integrations using relational databases such as Oracle and PostgreSQL.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve application defects, performance bottlenecks, integration issues, and production incidents across the application stack.

  • Participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and operational support.

  • Support cloud deployments, application releases, CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps initiatives, and automated testing practices.

  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including solution designs, API specifications, deployment procedures, and operational support guides.

  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools and emerging technologies to improve software quality, engineering productivity, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and delivery outcomes.

What You Will Need:

It’s an exciting, meaningful program with a great team – over 200 people with diverse backgrounds and experiences. If you would like to join us, please read on. We expect a successful candidate has:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD "public trust"; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of their public trust prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an active public trust or suitability are preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • TWO (2) years of professional software development experience with both front-end and back-end application development.

  • Strong experience with Java 8+, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Hibernate, Maven, REST APIs, JSON, Microservices Architecture, and Object-Oriented Design principles.

  • Experience designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting scalable, secure, and maintainable enterprise applications throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

  • Proficiency with ReactJS, including React Hooks, Redux, React Router, component lifecycle management, state management, and modern front-end development practices, along with strong JavaScript skills including DOM manipulation and asynchronous programming.

  • Experience working with relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server, including schema design, data modeling, normalization, SQL development, and query optimization.

  • Experience developing and consuming RESTful web services and integrating applications with internal and external systems.

  • Experience working with AWS cloud services, cloud-native application development, containerized environments, and modern software deployment practices.

  • Experience using source control, CI/CD, and software lifecycle management tools such as Git, GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or similar platforms.

  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and participating in sprint planning, backlog refinement, standups, reviews, and retrospectives.

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical challenges and develop effective solutions.

What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, or Infrastructure-as-Code technologies.

  • Knowledge of DevSecOps, automated testing frameworks, application performance monitoring, and observability tools.

  • Hands-on experience using AI-powered software engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, Amazon Q Developer, Cursor, Claude, Gemini, or similar platforms to improve development productivity, code quality, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation.
