This role is within the FX Technology group, with a primary focus on delivering to the STIRT (Short-Term Interest Rate Trading) business. The selected candidate will join the development group, bridging the gap between lightening fast UIs and high-performance pricing/distribution systems and real-time risk analytics. In addition, the candidate will contribute to broad Markets initiatives supporting the strategic transition to a common, cross-asset electronic trading and risk platform.
Job Purpose:
We are seeking an exceptional, hands-on Full Stack Developer and Technologist with deep expertise in core software engineering principles, modern cloud architectures, and investment banking domains.
This role requires a powerful combination of skills: building high-performance, multi-threaded, low-latency server-side systems in Java using gRPC and Kafka, and delivering modern, highly responsive user interfaces using React.js, TypeScript, and Redux.
We practice continuous delivery with multiple production releases a week. We are looking for an individual with a strong software engineering discipline, deep analytical capabilities, and a passion for building technology "in the right way" to sustain long-term success.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Core Backend & Distributed Systems Development
- High-Performance Engineering: Design and develop highly scalable, low-latency server-side applications using Core Java, ensuring optimal memory management and CPU utilization.
- Concurrency & Multi-threading: Implement robust multi-threaded solutions to handle high-throughput, real-time market data feeds and concurrent trading transactions.
- Distributed Architecture: Design and maintain distributed systems utilizing Kafka for reliable, high-throughput inter-service messaging and event streaming.
- High-Performance APIs: Implement gRPC for low-latency, high-performance communication between microservices and backend systems.
- Foundational Excellence: Apply advanced Algorithms & Data Structures to optimize application performance and solve complex computational problems.
2. Frontend & Real-Time Visualization
- Modern UI Development: Build and maintain responsive, high-performance user interfaces using React.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, and HTML5/CSS3.
- State Management & Integration: Implement robust client-side state management using Redux or the Context API and integrate frontends seamlessly with backend services via REST APIs and streaming connections.
- User Experience: Deliver exceptional, highly responsive user experiences, working closely with traders and sales desks to refine visualizations and decision-support tools.
3. Cloud-Native & Modern Architecture
- Cloud Infrastructure: Design, deploy, and manage microservices architectures within Amazon AWS.
- Container Orchestration: Leverage Kubernetes to manage containerized applications, ensuring high availability, scalability, and zero-downtime deployments.
4. Technical Leadership & Quality Assurance
- Engineering Standards: Act as a core team member, ensuring the development group adheres to rigorous code quality, comprehensive unit testing, and strict code review standards.
- Continuous Delivery: Maintain and enhance CI/CD pipelines to support multiple production releases per week.
Technical Stack & Skill Requirements:
Frontend & UI
- Framework: React.js (Expert proficiency)
- Languages: JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript
- Markup & Styling: HTML5 and CSS3
- State Management: Redux or Context API
- Integration: REST API integration and WebSocket/streaming data handling
Core Development (Backend)
- Core Language: Expert proficiency in Core Java (Java 17 and beyond)
- Concurrency: Deep, hands-on expertise in multi-threading and concurrent programming for high-performance applications
- Foundations: Solid grasp of Algorithms & Data Structures for efficient problem-solving and code optimization
- Communication Protocols: gRPC for high-performance, low-latency inter-service communication
Distributed Systems & Cloud
- Messaging: Kafka for high-throughput event streaming and distributed messaging
- Containerization: Kubernetes for container orchestration and microservices management
- Cloud Platform: Amazon AWS (EC2, EKS, S3, and related cloud-native services)
Domain Expertise & Competencies:
Domain Expertise
- Investment Banking: Strong understanding of Financial Markets.
- FX Knowledge: Knowledge of Foreign Exchange (FX) pricing lifecycles and electronic trading is highly advantageous.

- Analytical Thinking: Exceptional aptitude for complex system analysis, design, and creative problem-solving.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple global locations (Pune, London, etc.) and present technical achievements to senior stakeholders.
