We are seeking a nearshore Java Full Stack Engineering Manager to build and support commerce backend services and AI-driven/agentic checkout capabilities. You will lead delivery across Java/Spring Boot services and React UI components while ensuring reliability and compliance—apply to help shape secure, scalable checkout experiences.
Responsibilities
- Lead design and delivery of backend services for payment, loyalty, promotions, and other commerce systems
- Build and maintain Java/Spring Boot microservices and REST APIs that support checkout workflows
- Enable AI-driven and agentic checkout flows with validations, guardrails, and backend integrations
- Develop and support ReactJS front-end components needed for checkout experiences
- Ensure scalability, reliability, security, and compliance across services and integrations
- Coordinate technical decisions, code quality practices, and delivery standards across the team
- Collaborate with stakeholders during US Pacific Time overlap to plan, execute, and troubleshoot delivery
Requirements
- 7+ years backend development experience with Java and Spring Boot
- 7+ years experience building REST APIs and microservices
- Practical production experience with Anthropic Claude Code
- Lead-level technical leadership experience guiding engineering delivery
- Commerce domain experience supporting payments, loyalty, and promotions
- Cloud platform experience with GCP and/or Azure
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new tools and patterns
- Strong collaboration skills working across backend and frontend needs
- US Pacific Time overlap availability until at least 4pm PST
- Upper-Intermediate English proficiency (B2, Upper-Intermediate)
