As a Software Engineer III at JPMorganChase within the Commercial & Investment Bank Payments Technology team, you will design, build, and maintain scalable full stack solutions that support mission-critical payment platforms. You will work alongside talented engineers and cross-functional partners to deliver high-quality software that directly impacts how businesses and institutions move money around the world. Job responsibilities
- Execute software solutions across design, development, and technical troubleshooting, thinking beyond conventional approaches to break down complex problems and deliver innovative outcomes
- Create secure, high-quality production code and maintain algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems across the full stack using Java and modern front-end frameworks
- Build and optimize PostgreSQL database schemas, queries, and stored procedures to ensure data integrity and high performance at scale
- Deploy and manage cloud-based infrastructure and services, contributing to the reliability and scalability of payment processing platforms
- Leverage enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity across complex deliverables — including code generation, refactoring, unit test creation, and documentation — while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards; contribute learnings and reusable patterns to improve broader team effectiveness
- Apply knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation
- Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while ensuring design constraints are met throughout software code development
- Gather, analyze, synthesize, and develop visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems
- Proactively identify hidden problems and patterns in data and use these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
- Collaborate with product, architecture, and cross-functional engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Participate in code reviews, CI/CD pipeline improvements, and automation efforts to accelerate delivery and uphold engineering best practices and security standards
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
- Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages, including Java, and database querying languages including PostgreSQL
- Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment — such as for coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation — with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security
- Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices
- Experience building and deploying applications in a cloud environment (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform)
- Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Familiarity with modern front-end technologies and full stack development patterns
- Exposure to cloud-native technologies and containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience working within the payments or financial services domain
- Familiarity with microservices architecture and event-driven design patterns
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar platforms
