As a Junior Test Automation Engineer, you will support the quality assurance process by helping to create, execute, and maintain automated and manual tests. Working closely with experienced testers, developers, and product teams, you will contribute to ensuring that software meets quality standards and delivers a reliable user experience. This role is ideal for someone looking to develop their skills in test automation, software testing, and modern development practices.
Key responsibilities:
- Assist in creating and maintaining automated test scripts for web applications and APIs
- Execute manual and automated test cases for new features, enhancements, and bug fixes
- Support regression testing activities to ensure existing functionality continues to work as expected
- Work with developers, testers, and product teams to understand requirements and acceptance criteria
- Identify, document, and report defects using tools such as Jira
- Analyse test results and assist in investigating failed tests and application issues
- Help improve test coverage by identifying areas that would benefit from additional automated or manual tests
- Maintain test documentation, test cases, and testing reports
- Participate in Agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and backlog refinement sessions
- Continuously learn and apply testing best practices, tools, and techniques
Here's what you'll need
- Up to 2 years of experience in software testing
- Basic understanding of software testing principles and the software development lifecycle
- Knowledge of manual testing techniques and defect reporting
- Basic programming knowledge, preferably in Java
- Familiarity with test automation concepts and an interest in developing automation skills
- Exposure to testing tools such as Selenium, Cucumber, Postman, or similar tools would be an advantage
- Basic understanding of REST APIs and API testing concepts
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively within a team while demonstrating initiative and willingness to learn
Nice to have:
- Basic knowledge of Maven and IntelliJ IDEA
- Familiarity with Jira and Confluence
- Understanding of Agile methodologies
- Exposure to CI/CD concepts and tools such as Jenkins
- Basic knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud platforms such as AWS
- Interest in performance, security, or exploratory testing
