Job Description

Layout Engineer

As a Layout Engineer, you will perform detailed layout inspections of a wide variety of parts utilizing advanced computer-aided inspection techniques. You will interpret complex blueprints, evaluate dimensions and tolerances, and apply efficient and cost-effective inspection methods for assigned projects using Zeiss Inspect (formerly GOM Inspect) and optical scanning technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform dimensional inspections on precision and turbine components using Zeiss Inspect / GOM Inspect and advanced optical scanning systems.
  • Interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T requirements to verify part conformance.
  • Develop and execute inspection programs and workflows for dimensional inspection of precision parts.
  • Establish efficient, cost-effective inspection methods and techniques for assigned projects.
  • Prepare inspection documentation and deviation reports in accordance with established ISO17025 procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to inspection process optimization and data accuracy.

Requirements

  • Mandatory experience with Zeiss Inspect / GOM Inspect for dimensional inspection and reporting.
  • Experience with optical or structured light scanning systems such as ATOS or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of ANSI Y14.5 dimensioning and tolerancing principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Python or Visual Basic scripting experience is beneficial but not required.
  • Working knowledge of ISO9001, ISO17025, AS9100, and NADCAP standards.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining accuracy and accountability.
  • U.S. person status required (per ITAR regulations).
