Your Impact:
As OpenText accelerates its AI transformation, Ireland has become a key strategic R&D hub for advanced AI engineering, applied AI platforms, sovereign cloud, cybersecurity, and trusted enterprise innovation. As part of this investment, we’re seeking a Lead AI Developer – an independent developer responsible for building and operating AI features end-to-end.
This role sits at the heart of both OpenText’s global AI strategy and the expansion of our Ireland R&D capability. You will play a foundational role in building the next generation of sovereign AI for Europe, helping establish our EMEA Centre of Excellence for Agentic AI and Sovereign Cloud. Working at the forefront of multi-agent AI orchestration in regulated environments, you’ll shape how enterprise AI is built and operated at scale.
You’ll work across the full AI stack - spanning platform, orchestration, and application layer, rather than operating within a silo, giving you direct influence on enterprise-scale outcomes. Crucially, this is not just about applying AI - it’s about creating it. You will contribute to foundational intellectual property in agentic AI, data sovereignty, and cybersecurity, helping define the technology and engineering standards that will power OpenText’s future, rather than simply implementing existing tools.
You’re great at:
- Designing and developing APIs, workflows, and AI-powered features.
- Owning the end-to-end development lifecycle: build, test, deploy, and monitor.
- Acting as a technical lead for key initiatives, driving technical design and architecture decisions.
- Optimizing systems for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
- Supporting production systems, including on-call responsibilities and issue resolution.
- Maintaining high engineering standards, including code quality, testing, and documentation.
- Providing technical guidance to developers and promoting best practices across the team.
What you need to succeed:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, AI, or a related technical field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Software Engineering, DevOps, SRE or Cloud Engineering.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in AI agent design and development, including exposure to multi-agent architectures and orchestration patterns.
- Strong foundation in software engineering principles and best practices.
- Strong programming expertise in Python and modern software development frameworks.
- Experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience building AI agents using LLMs and RAG architectures.
- Experience with AI frameworks such as Google ADK, AWS Agent Core, LangChain, LangGraph or similar technologies.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native development technologies (e.g., Kubernetes).
- Experience leading technical workstreams and delivering outcomes end-to-end.
- Experience operating production services with reliability, scalability, security, and performance.
- Understanding of observability, monitoring, logging and operational excellence practices.
- Exposure to AI governance, security, and sovereign cloud environments - advantage.
