Job Description

Location: Tampere, on‑site, full‑time, permanent position

About the Role

We design and manufacture critical communication, video, SDR, software, and platform components for unmanned aerial systems operating in contested environments. Security is not a feature — it is a fundamental property of every product, service, and internal capability we ship.

This is a deeply technical leadership role with direct influence on product and platform architecture.

You will build and lead a team that works closely with hardware engineers, firmware developers, backend engineers, DevOps, product managers, and leadership — not as an auditor, but as a builder who is responsible for ensuring that teams design and ship secure systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and drive product and platform security strategy across hardware, firmware, software, and manufacturing systems.

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing product and platform security team.

  • Partner with engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle to embed security into architecture, design, implementation, testing, and release.

  • Lead threat modeling, security architecture reviews, and risk assessments for new products and major platform initiatives.

  • Establish security requirements, secure-by-design practices, and engineering standards across the organization.

  • Drive vulnerability management, security testing, and coordinated remediation efforts.

  • Support incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement of security posture.

  • Represent security in technical and product planning, balancing risk with engineering velocity and business objectives.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience designing and implementing security controls across both software and hardware environments.

  • Strong background in conducting security design reviews and architecture assessments for complex systems.

  • Hands-on experience with Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC) practices. Experience establishing or implementing SSDLC frameworks from the ground up is highly desirable.

  • Solid understanding of industry security standards and frameworks, including NIST, ISO, and OWASP.

  • Deep technical security expertise with broad knowledge of application, system, and product security principles.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).

  • Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring engineering or security teams. Candidates with team leadership experience who are interested in pursuing an architecture-focused career path are encouraged to apply.

Our candidate

You are an experienced security engineer and technical leader who thrives on solving complex engineering problems. You build trust through technical credibility, collaborate effectively across various engineering disciplines, and are comfortable making pragmatic security decisions in fast-moving engineering environments. You lead by enabling teams to build secure products rather than acting solely as a reviewer or gatekeeper.
