Job Description
The Lead Teacher – EEC Program & Early Learning Center is responsible for supporting the administration, operations, and instructional quality of the Early Education and Care (EEC) Program and Early Learning Center (ELC) at LPVEC. The Lead Teacher ensures compliance with Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care regulations, supports the developmental growth and safety of enrolled children, and helps maintain a high-quality learning environment that serves young children and high school students participating in career and technical education programs.

This position provides leadership in classroom operations, child assessment, family communication, program coordination, and regulatory compliance, while fostering positive relationships among children, families, students, staff, and the community.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Regular and punctual attendance.
2. To be present at the assigned workstation at the designated time.
3. To assist the Principal/Director of Career and Technical Education in administering the Early Learning Center (ELC), managing an assigned number of children in the program, and remaining on-site until the last student departs.
4. Be flexible enough to handle responsibilities in the Early Education Center (EEC) and Early Learning Center (ELC) settings, including substituting in the ELC when an ELC Teacher or Director is absent. This may include adjusting hours to maintain the classroom ratio in accordance with the EEC Guidelines.
5. To coordinate with the ELC Teacher and Director on developmental evaluations and assessments of
children, as required by Massachusetts Early Education and Care regulations, and to assist in preparing
developmental progress reports and conferences.
6. To maintain the EEC Program and be flexible in working with the EEC and ELC teachers to sustain a unified program.
7. To maintain ongoing, open communication with parents, guardians, and caregivers.
8. To complete 15 hours of professional development activities related to early education and care each
year (4 of these hours must focus on diverse learners).
9. To assist the Principal/Director of Career and Technical Education with report generation and to notify
of any problems in a timely manner.
10. To participate in staff meetings and professional development activities and to be responsible for attending other meetings that may be called after school hours by the Principal/Director and/or the Executive Director.
11. To consistently build favorable relationships through positive interactions with high school students, children, educational staff, and administration, and to contribute to a healthy, respectful, accepting, and kind culture free from negativity and judgment.
12. To comply with the LPVEC Employee Handbook, policies and procedures, and Brush Hill Faculty Guidelines.
13. To maintain the confidentiality of student records and information obtained as part of professional duties regarding students, their families, and other employees.
14. To perform all other duties as assigned by the Principal/Director and/or Executive Director to support LPVEC’s mission and operations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Proven ability to relate to and work with a variety of constituencies, including but not limited to administrators, teachers, other school staff, parents/guardians/caregivers, students, visitors, and the community.
2. Demonstrates the ability to interact professionally with related business, industry, and public agency personnel.
3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the proven ability to communicate effectively with staff members, families, and students from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
4. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional periodicals, journals, technical procedures, and government regulations.
5. Possesses a good work record and attends work regularly.
6. Such alternatives to the above as the Board of Directors may deem appropriate and acceptable.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

1. Certification as a Massachusetts Early Education and Care Lead Teacher, Preschool
2. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
3. Familiarity with and/or experience in Massachusetts Early Education and Care rules and regulations.
4. Minimum of 5 years of early education experience, with teaching experience in a secondary or post-secondary school preferred, and sensitivity to the needs of parents, guardians, caregivers, children, high school students, educational staff, and government agencies.
5. Willingness to pursue entry-level Chapter 74 classes.
6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Directors may deem appropriate and acceptable.
At least 5 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
Bachelor degree preferred.
