PELLA CORPORATION REQUIREMENTS:
Pass drug screen
Complete color acuity test. Passing score required to make decisions regarding color match.

High school diploma or equivalency

ENVIRONMENT:
Noise level requires hearing protection in designated areas
Seasonal high temperatures and humidity
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Comply with safety, quality, and production requirements and procedures.
Flexibility of work hours, including mandatory OT, coverage of both shifts, when business needs require
Ability to safely work with and around moving equipment.
Ability to learn, and rotate to, different responsibilities and / or positions
Ability to communicate in a concise and respectful manner with team members
Regular / dependable attendance consistent with attendance guidelines is required
Ability to meet physical requirements of the job
Ability to learn and perform repetitive job tasks
Perform Total Productive Maintenance duties
Maintain good housekeeping
Must inspect and troubleshoot all aspects of production as outlined in quality processes and audits
Provide internal/external customers with support in resolving quality issues
Must be able to assist with problem resolution during new product introductions
Must be able to design and carry out statistical studies and special quality projects
Must be able to conduct classes and train others on statistical process control techniques, material standards and general quality practices
Analyze and implement Quality projects; Involvement in preventative activities such as process documentation, machine capability studies, and defect data collection are required.
Provide leadership that will utilize the talents of all team members
Coach and mentor team members regarding safety, quality, and productivity to achieve department goals
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Other duties may be assigned
Able to work with minimal supervision
Support and participate in Kaizen events and other improvement activities
Additional responsibilities as outlined in the progression documentation
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Manufacturing experience is necessary
Previous quality experience as a Quality Technician – Level 1 progression
SKILLS AND TALENTS: (*skills are required prior to entry into the position)
- Decision making / problem solving in a manufacturing environment.
Use of hand tools and machinery is required
Requires communication skills and the cognitive ability to learn the safety, quality, and productivity standards
Learn, comprehend and implement Lock Out/Tag Out and safety and quality procedures to assure the safe and proper operation of the equipment
Ability to perform simple to moderately difficult math
- Familiarity with American units of measure for weight, time, and distance
- Ability to be a self-started and decision maker
- Proficient knowledge of computers: Microsoft Office, Thrive, AutoCAD, Oracle
- Flexibility to travel to vendors and other Mfg. sites
- Read and interpret blueprints
- Proficient mechanical aptitude
- Efficient time management

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Lift up to 60 lbs. at waist level and up to 30 lbs. at shoulder level up to an occasional basis when moving products
- Push or pull with up to 70 lbs. of force up to an occasional basis when moving products
- Generate up to 65 lbs. of grip strength up to an occasional basis with each hand while handling products
- Generate up to 15 lbs. of pinch strength up to an occasional basis with each hand while handling products
- Display average coordination with both hands up to a continuous basis while performing job tasks
- Perform elevated work up to an occasional basis when handling products
- Stoop, kneel or squat up to an occasional basis when handling products
- Reach forward and to the side up to a frequent basis when handling products
- Stand up to a continuous basis and walk up to a frequent basis during the course of each shift
- Able to perform repetitive tasks up to 12 hours per day
