Job description

About us
Working at Target means helping all families discover the joy of everyday life. We bring that vision to life through our
values and culture. Learn more about Target here.

Join our global in-house technology team of more than 4,000 engineers, data scientists, architects, coaches and product managers striving to make Target the most convenient, safe and joyful place to shop. We use agile practices and leverage open-source software to adapt and build best-in-class technology for our team members and guests, and we do so with a focus on inclusion, experimentation and continuous learning.

Role overview:
As a Lead Technical Program Manager, you serve as the technical anchor for high-impact, organization-wide initiatives across Target’s Cloud & Compute platforms. You provide program leadership for large-scale infrastructure modernization efforts focussing on virtualization platform strategy, compute infrastructure transformation, data center modernization, resiliency improvements, and cloud adoption initiatives.

You create, own, and drive the strategic plan required to deliver complex platform capabilities spanning multiple engineering teams and technology domains. You develop a deep understanding of compute and virtualization architectures, infrastructure dependencies, platform roadmaps, and operational requirements, enabling you to translate technical strategy into executable program plans.
In this role, you will partner closely with engineering, product, architecture, operations, and business stakeholders to deliver enterprise-scale programs such as virtualization platform lifecycle management, workload migration and
modernization, platform capacity expansion, data center exits, resiliency enhancements, automation adoption, and infrastructure standardization efforts.
You align technical roadmaps and priorities across teams to ensure successful execution against business and technology objectives. You proactively identify bottlenecks, manage risks, drive dependency resolution, evaluate tradeoffs, and establish mechanisms that enable effective collaboration across product and platform teams.
You will facilitate technical planning and architecture reviews, lead cross-functional execution, coordinate large-scale infrastructure migrations, and provide visibility into program health, delivery milestones, risks, and outcomes. You serve as a point of escalation for technical and program challenges while ensuring leadership stakeholders have clear insights into progress, dependencies, and emerging constraints.

Responsibilities:
• Define and drive execution of large-scale Cloud & Compute and virtualization programs.
• Partner with platform/application engineering teams to deliver virtualization platform evolution and infrastructure
modernization initiatives.
• Coordinate complex workload migration programs across data centers, virtualization environments, and cloud
platforms.
• Align product and platform roadmaps to support business growth, resiliency, scalability, and operational excellence
objectives.
• Develop and maintain integrated delivery plans, dependency maps, milestone tracking, and executive reporting
mechanisms.
Target Technology | Lead TPM Job Description
Lead technical planning, risk management, dependency management, and issue resolution across multiple engineering
organizations.
• Facilitate architecture reviews, technical design discussions, and operational readiness assessments.
• Drive stakeholder communication and executive updates regarding program status, risks, milestones, and strategic
outcomes.
• Partner with engineering leaders to manage capacity planning, infrastructure lifecycle management, disaster recovery
readiness, and platform resiliency initiatives.
• Establish program governance, define success metrics, and continuously improve delivery mechanisms for large-scale
infrastructure programs.
Core responsibilities of this job are described within this job description. Job duties may change at any time due to
business needs.

About You:
• 4-year degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical field, or equivalent
experience.
• 8+ years of experience in technical program management, software engineering, infrastructure engineering, or related
technology roles.
• 3+ years of experience leading large-scale cross-functional technology programs.
• Strong experience operating in Agile delivery environments.
• Proven program management skills with experience managing highly complex technical initiatives.
• Experience leading large-scale infrastructure, cloud, virtualization, or platform modernization programs.
• Strong understanding of virtualization technologies, compute platforms, infrastructure architecture, and cloud
computing concepts.
• Experience driving workload migration, infrastructure transformation, or data center modernization initiatives.
• Understanding of distributed systems, microservices-based architectures, and platform engineering practices.
• Demonstrated ability to manage executive stakeholders, influence across organizations, and drive alignment across
multiple teams.
• Excellent communication, risk management, dependency management, and strategic planning skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with enterprise virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere, OpenShift Virtualization, Nutanix, or
similar technologies.
• Experience leading cloud transformation initiatives across public and private cloud environments.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code, automation frameworks, observability, and site reliability engineering practices.
