Job description

Summary: The Learning Behavior Support position will ensure that students will learn and develop cognitive, emotional, social and communicative skills. Additionally, provide a learning environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and academic achievement beyond the classroom.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work daily with students on instructional lessons as it relates to behavioral and academic achievement
  • Utilize data collected through a myriad of sources to improve behavior and social interaction
  • Ensure that all work with students aligns with the school's academic goals for student achievement as well as the individual needs of the students
  • Continually communicate with students and families regarding academic and behavior performance and progress
  • Maintain strong professional relationships with colleagues in an environment where listening, critical thought, respectful debate, and compromise is welcomed and essential
  • Assist in developing procedures and training materials for school staff involved with students with challenging behaviors for the purpose of developing skills, establishing effective relationships with behaviorally or emotionally disturbed students
  • Participate in a variety of meetings, workshops and committees for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions and adhere to or follow academic guidelines
  • Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring efficient and effective functions


Qualifications:
Skills are required to perform multiple, technical task with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the function of the job include: analyzing data and effective listening.

Education/Experience:
Job related experience within specialized field is required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Language Ability:
Good written and verbal communication skills

Math Ability:
Above Average

Reasoning Ability:
Above Average

Certificates and Licenses:
No certification needed
