Tasks:
  • Maintain, debug, and enhance a highly customized product derived from open-source components.
  • Perform system-level programming, ensuring stability, security, and performance across platforms.
  • Customize and extend open-source components such as OpenSSH and Unix/Linux authentication modules.
  • Collaborate closely with a globally distributed team across New York, Canada, India, and London.
  • Contribute to enterprise-grade, change-controlled development processes.
  • Support migration of legacy code (Perl) to modern Python implementations.
  • Assist in documenting and improving development practices for long-term product sustainability.
  • Provide technical expertise to troubleshoot complex, business-critical issues.


  • Requirements:
  • Strong Unix/Linux system programming experience with hands-on C development.
  • Skilled in writing and debugging multithreaded, system-level code.
  • Experience with enterprise software lifecycles, including change control and release management.
  • Familiarity with open-source projects and comfortable customizing or extending them.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong ownership mindset and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable collaborating with globally distributed teams.


  • Nice to Have:
  • Experience with Perl (legacy code) or Python (migration projects).
  • Understanding of authentication systems such as Kerberos and their integration flows.
