Job Description
Job Summary: An Elementary Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering standards-aligned instruction that supports the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development of students. The teacher creates a safe and engaging learning environment, monitors student progress, collaborates with families and staff, and implements instructional strategies that promote student achievement and growth. Additionally, the teacher participates in professional development and contributes to school-wide initiatives and activities.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with district curriculum, state standards, and grade-level learning objectives.

- Provide instruction in core academic subjects and other assigned content areas using developmentally appropriate teaching practices.

- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, social, emotional, behavioral, and learning needs of students.

- Integrate cross-curricular connections and real-world applications to enhance student learning and engagement.

- Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations and provide timely, constructive feedback to students and families.

- Use evidence-based classroom management strategies to maintain a safe, organized, positive, and inclusive learning environment.

- Use evidence-based instructional strategies to ensure effective instruction, high student engagement, and continuous improvement in student achievement.

- Foster a classroom culture that promotes respect, responsibility, collaboration, perseverance, and a growth mindset.

- Support students' social-emotional development and encourage positive peer relationships and self-regulation skills.

- Utilize educational technology and instructional resources to enhance teaching and learning.

- Provide appropriate interventions, enrichment opportunities, and accommodations to support individual student success.

- Communicate effectively and regularly with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, and administrators regarding student progress, classroom activities, and school initiatives.

- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development activities, and school events.

- Collaborate with grade-level teams, specialists, support staff, and administrators to support student achievement and school-wide goals.

- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, assessments, and student progress in accordance with school policies and procedures.

- Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, field trips, and other school settings as assigned.

- Support and participate in school-wide programs, committees, extracurricular activities, and special events as assigned.

- All other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

- Pennsylvania Department of Education certification in Grades PK-4 or Elementary K-6 required

- Submission of pre-employment medical examination

- Submission of the following clearances:

- Pennsylvania State Criminal History Record

- Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare Child Abuse History Clearances

- Federal Background Check (Fingerprints)

- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
