The Platform Engineering Organization is responsible for the strategy, architecture, development and support of Dataworks' Data and Analytic Platform. This cloud-based platform supports FedEx's most critical BI/ AI/ ML applications integrated with our physical network and supporting our digital business.
As a Manager of Platform Engineering, you will be leading a team of highly skilled engineers responsible for developing cloud infrastructure, data engineering frameworks, proprietary data science platforms and information management services. The servant leader in this role will focus on building and maintaining highly engaged, diverse teams providing professional development, coaching and guidance. Identifying continuous improvement opportunities, devising strategies, and leading your team through execution will be of the most important and rewarding aspects of this role. The ideal candidate will strive in a fast pace, highly dynamic atmosphere, unafraid of risks and willing to fail fast to learn and succeed.
Skills/Knowledge/Experience Considered a Plus:
- At least 5+ of cloud experience, i.e. AWS, Azure or GCP
- At least 3+ years of working with IaC tools such as Terraform or Helm
- At least 3+ years of working with Github
- At least 5+ years working with CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins/Github Actions/CircleCI
- At least 3+ years working with Snowflake or Databricks
- Strong experience managing Message Queue infrastructure at scale (i.e. millions of messages a day)
- Strong experience with Linux administration and a strong Systems background
- Previous management experience, managing a DevOps or CloudOps team
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree/equivalent in computer science, math or directly related quantitative Degree or related field. A related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirements. Five (5) years systems development experience which includes programming. Skill in one or more programming languages. If position is in mainframe environment, complex systems experience on IBM operating systems or microprocessors required. Experience in the technical design and development of major data processing projects. IMS experience. If position is in client/server environment, systems development experience to include distributed systems is required. Experience in client/server technology, object oriented (OO) development or case tools. Experience in the technical design and development of major client/server projects. Knowledge of software and engineering principles. Strong basic management, human relations and communication skills.
