As a Manufacturing Engineer, you are responsible for developing and maintaining methods, operating sequences, and processes in the fabrication of parts, components, subassemblies, and final assemblies. You'll work closely with other engineering functions to coordinate the release of product improvements and new products, and you'll use engineering principles to estimate and reduce manufacturing costs, improve product quality, determine time standards, and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements. Your expertise in lean principles, automation, and continuous improvement will be instrumental in driving operational excellence and achieving higher levels of productivity and cost-effectiveness. You'll develop and use test procedures, evaluate test results, and assess work methods, procedures, and policies to identify root cause issues and solutions that ensure operational success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, validate, implement, and maintain manufacturing test methodologies, scripts, procedures, and process controls for semiconductor equipment systems.

  • Serve as a technical owner for manufacturing test solutions across multiple product platforms, including DPS, Tetra, Centris Twin, Centris Sym3, AP Sym3, and future product introductions.

  • Collaborate with FSO, Installation Teams, Test Engineering, Software Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, and Global Product Support teams to develop, deploy, troubleshoot, and improve manufacturing and startup test programs.

  • Drive resolution of product, manufacturing, and field-related issues through structured root cause analysis, corrective actions, and verification activities.

  • Develop and improve diagnostic tools, automated test solutions, and software-based applications to enhance product quality, reduce cycle time, and improve manufacturing efficiency.

  • Lead and support continuous improvement projects focused on product quality, manufacturing readiness, operational efficiency, cost reduction, and safety enhancement.

  • Partner with customer-facing organizations to capture installation, startup, and field learning, ensuring feedback is incorporated into manufacturing processes, test methodologies, documentation, and product improvements.

  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities by developing test strategies, validating manufacturing readiness, performing risk assessments, and participating in PFMEA activities.

  • Evaluate manufacturing processes, work instructions, and business procedures, ensuring documentation remains accurate and reflects current operational practices.

  • Utilize data analytics and problem-solving methodologies to identify failure trends, improve process capability, and drive corrective actions across cross-functional teams.

  • Support software and automation initiatives, including manufacturing applications, digital workflows, automation tools, and data collection systems that improve operational effectiveness.

  • Interface directly with customer sites as required to support deployment, troubleshooting, program updates, equipment startup, and manufacturing improvements.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline.

  • 6+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Test Engineering, Product Engineering, Field Engineering, Quality Engineering, or related technical roles.

  • Experience supporting complex systems in a manufacturing, semiconductor, or high-technology environment.

  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.

  • Experience developing or maintaining test procedures, manufacturing processes, diagnostic programs, or automated test solutions.

  • Ability to work effectively across global cross-functional teams and customer-facing organizations.

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30%.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within the semiconductor capital equipment industry.

  • Programming or scripting experience using languages such as Python, C#, VBA, SQL, JavaScript, LabVIEW, or similar.

  • Experience developing automated manufacturing, diagnostic, or test applications.

  • Familiarity with Mayan, MES, SAP, Factory Automation, or other manufacturing software platforms.

  • Experience with test fixture design, manufacturing validation, and production support.

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, PFMEA, CAPA, and continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Experience supporting equipment installation, startup, qualification, or field service activities.

  • Mandarin Chinese language proficiency is highly desirable due to frequent interaction with customers and teams in Taiwan and China.

Working Conditions

  • Up to 30% domestic and international travel may be required.

  • Position may require support during non-standard working hours to accommodate global customer engagements, startup activities, and semiconductor fab operations that run 24/7.

  • May require working in customer manufacturing facilities and semiconductor cleanroom environments.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, lift, and work in confined spaces as needed.

  • Use of cleanroom garments and personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required, including coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, and face shields.
