A Material Handler is responsible for moving, storing, tracking, and distributing materials, products, and inventory within a warehouse, manufacturing facility, or distribution center. They help ensure materials are available where and when they are needed to support operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and unload incoming shipments.
- Move materials to designated storage areas using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment.
- Pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and perform cycle counts.
- Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently.
- Label, organize, and store materials according to company procedures.
- Monitor inventory levels and report shortages or discrepancies.
- Follow safety regulations and maintain a clean work environment.
- Operate warehouse management systems and handheld scanners.
- Assist with shipping, receiving, and general warehouse duties.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous warehouse or material handling experience preferred.
- Ability to operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment (certification may be required).
- Basic computer and inventory management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds (or as required).
- Stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
- Work in warehouse, manufacturing, or outdoor environments.
