Job Summary
Nebraska Ash is looking for a high performing, results-oriented Material Handler Foreman to lead and perform safe and efficient equipment operations for loading, moving, shipping and ticketing ash products at our locations as well as assuring schedules and coverage are maintained. Must abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely. Must be able to work normal day hours, generally between 6 am to 6 pm, averaging 40 to 50 hours a week; occasional Saturday or Sunday work may be required; hours may vary based on daily loading or disposal requirements. This position will be located at a power plant which requires the applicant to pass a background check plus a pre-employment physical with drug testing and back screening.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:  

Oversees Material Handlers and provides guidance and training as directed as needed.

 

Communicates with Plant Operations & Maintenance Lead of potential problems, status and timeline of projects, assures work is completed timely and safely.

 

Operates and ensures safe operation of rubber tire front end loader, skid loader, Shuttle wagon and other equipment used to load trucks, and railcars.  

 

Assures appropriate tickets are written for orders according to requirements. 

 

Works with customers and appropriate personnel to identify and plan daily operations. 

 

Assures equipment is maintained according to safety standards. 

 

Provides work direction, guidance and support when needed. 

 

Assures the scale office, shop and equipment are cleaned on a regular basis. 

 

Responsible for making sure checks are done on brakes, tires, springs, engine oil, etc. on a daily basis, makes sure required maintenance such as greases, oil changes, tire changes, and other maintenance is completed as needed.

 

Other duties may be assigned. 

 

Education and/or Experience:   

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and  
  • 1-year previous experience performing mechanical maintenance & repairs on vehicles and/or equipment; or 
  • an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:    

  • Valid Driver’s License and be insurable under the company insurance program.  

Qualifications: 

  • Ability to perform basic maintenance and repair of equipment as needed. 
  • Ability to oversee and train other personnel. 
  • Ability to train others in proper Safety protocols.
  • Ability to read and comprehend documents related to the job, such as scale tickets, SDS sheets, equipment manuals and the company safety manual. 
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and climb to height of 100 feet.

  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must have a good sense of detail to work and maintain a clean and safe environment.  
  • Must be able to distinguish between safe and unsafe conditions. 
  • Must be able to delegate tasks to others and work well in a team environment.
