Travel is required as this position may be located at one of our projects with locations including: Kentucky, Ohio, Georgia, Texas, Oklahoma, Washington and other states.
 
Per-diem is available to help cover temporary living expenses for candidates who meet the eligibility criteria. Depending on project availability, once your time on this project ends, you may be transferred to the next project in a different state.

Here's how a Materials Supervisor for PCL Solar Constructors USA Inc. within Solar USA contributes to our team:

Responsibilities

  • Assist in providing project / district management with support, best practices, strategies, and estimates for change notices on material management, logistics, facilities, site services, construction equipment and indirect manpower.
  • Responsible for training and mentoring other material coordinators. Assists with training and mentoring of other project staff, trade supervision, and tradespeople on department procedures, project plans, and systems.
  • Assists in assessing contract documents, client process and system requirements, PCL procedural and system requirements, and associated risks. Assists in developing project specific material management plans.
  • Assists in assessing contract documents for facility supply responsibilities. Analyzes overall project storage requirements and provides feedback/recommendations to project team. Assists General Superintendent on final plan for toolcribs, related temporary facilities and required infrastructure.
  • Manages the setup of project storage facilities and management systems in alignment with project plans, drawings, and agreements with project management. Completes audits to ensure facilities are set up and functioning according to approved plans and resolves or escalates issues as required.
  • Analyses data in the material/tool management system to ensure integrity and modifies as required. Provides direction and guidance to material coordinators and assigns entries. May provide input on and assist in developing standard item libraries for project use.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement of material planning on the project. Supports material coordinators and the project team with material planning and suggests management plans for the materials.
  • Develops the project “Requisition/Cost Approval Matrix” with Project Management. Assists with creating and reviews requisitions and blanket order releases for temporary and PCL supplied permanent materials and services based on the contract and related documents (i.e. material responsibility matrix “MRM”. Coordinates with the project team to resolve requisitioning issues.
  • Submits approved requisitions to procurement for action. For client/engineer supplied materials, requests required purchase order information assists in creating the order in the material system.
  • Proactively manages and supports expediting and logistics. Mitigates risks identified through expediting. Creates logistics plans, identifies best practices, and suggests cost saving methods. Provides expediting reports, data for PCL supplied materials as required for project planning purposes.
  • Assists in analyzing project reporting requirements and developing project specific reports, schedules, and distribution lists for internal and external reports

Qualifications

  • High school diploma and/or postsecondary diploma/degree in a related discipline  (e.g., supply chain management, procurement, logistics, warehouse distribution).
  • Advanced construction knowledge. Understands specifications, drawings, bills of  material, methods, and procedures.
  • Extensive knowledge of commonly used construction materials, permanent/non-permanent materials, services, tools, and equipment. Provides thoughts/solutions for improved material supply on the project.
  • Advanced knowledge of project logistics, toolcrib, warehouse, laydown setup and organization, and best practices. Assists in forecasting space requirements and can design layouts.
  • Extensive knowledge of supply chain processes, project life cycle, materials management best practices, PCL procedures, and risk. Can assist in assessing owner contract, process, and systems requirements and compare to PCL requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills; able to present to internal and external project leaders.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with an ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, and diplomatically.
  • Demonstrated conflict-resolution skills, professional judgement, strong negotiating skills, and awareness of impact on company and projects.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong drive, time management, and sense of urgency. Ability to assist in prioritization of shifting priorities for self and others in a fast-paced and changing environment.
