    GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
    Support the elementary classroom teacher and principal in implementing TCA's math response to intervention program and encouraging a positive learning environment.  To assist teachersin providing remedial math instruction. The Math intervention tutor will provide a continuum of support to move the students toward grade level, skill-based mastery.  The math interventionist develops material and lessons, provides remedial math instruction, and evaluates and assesses student performance and response to intervention. 

    ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:
    Reports to the school principal

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    • Assists classroom teacher in carrying out instructional programs and lessons in various learning environments as designated in the RtI plan.
    • Tutor providesmath intervention using an approved or provided math intervention curriculum
    • Coordinates completion of skill-based math intervention curriculum and provides updates to the classroom teacher and building principal.
    • Works with student in one-on-one setting to identify and remediate math skill gaps, and to reinforce material initially introduced in the classroom.
    • Collaborates with general education teacher and case manager to ensure skill deficits are identified and remediated.
    • Provides progress monitoring data.
    • Provides lesson plans to building principal.
    • Identifies and solves problems in a timely manner.

    MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

    • Assists classroom teacher as needed

      Performs other duties as required and/or assigned by the principal.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    EDUCATION:

    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
      EXPERIENCE:
    • Experience working in an educational setting preferred

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Background knowledge in math interventions/effective research-based intervention strategies preferred.
    • Interest in working with children having learning disabilities
    • Ability to provide a warm and caring attitude toward students and staff.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
    • Ability to learn and follow special education procedures
    • Ability to work well with students and parents from diverse populations.
    • Willing and desire to work with students one on one.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors and co-workers.
    • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
    • Knowledge of TCA operations, laws, rules, regulations, and procedures.
    • Skills in operating computer, word processing.
    • Ability to use telephone, computer, copier, and other office/classroom support equipment.

    • Ability to be flexible in work demands.

    Contacts are generally of a nature requiring disseminating and discussing routine information but may occasionally involve sensitive issues or situations.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • Work is performed primarily in the Resource classroom setting
    • Required to work normal business hours with additional hours as needed

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

      • Frequently use eye, hand, and finger coordination to enable the use of a computer, other office equipment, and writing utensils

    • Stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, and balance while working or helping students
    • Spend equivalent amounts of the time sitting, standing, and walking while performing job duties

    BENEFITS: 0.1 to 0.49 FTE:

    • RETIREMENT PLAN: Administered by Colorado PERA, this is a tax deferred retirement account to which you contribute 11% of your monthly earnings.  TCA contributes 20.9% to the PERA pension trust fund on your behalf.
    • TIME OFF COMPENSATION: An employee with 0.1-0.49 FTE will receive 1.0 Staff Leave. For positions less than 1.0 FTE, leave time will be prorated based on FTE. Our leave program is fully compliant with the Colorado Healthy Families Workplace Act.
    • PRIORITY ENROLLMENT STATUS: Children of staff members 0.4 FTE and above receive priority enrollment of their child/children at The Classical Academy.
