POSITION OVERVIEW: Provide leadership and management for FedEx Freight’s Multi-Modal operations.  Lead the development and implementation of long and short – range strategic objectives, network design, operating business plans, policies, budgets, and programs to optimize the return on investment. Work with the leadership team on decisions regarding capital investments, expenses, resource allocation and profitability.  
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop strategic plans; ensure execution of tactical plans; review alternative options and select most effective and cost-efficient method to achieve goals in FedEx Freight Multi-Modal including but not limited to intermodal, drayage, equipment and other load operations
2. Develop transportation solutions that support the FedEx enterprise and position FedEx Freight to penetrate strategic markets
3. Give full consideration while developing business plans to such factors as environment, markets, competition, organizational capabilities, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats, and parent/sister company opportunities and objectives
4. Develop and lead a diverse team of professionals 
5. Create and manage third party vendor relationships 
6. Support the research, development, and implementation of industry differentiating technology for our internal operations employees, retailers, third party vendors, and consumers
7. Create and achieve all productivity and service metrics  
8. Partner with Safety to ensure employee well-being  
9. Work collaboratively with functional groups and operating companies as directed to ensure strategic planning objectives and targets are met throughout the organization 
10. Ensure compliance to organizational policies, audit requirements and guidelines  
11. Gather information, conduct in-depth analyses, formulate conclusions, and provide recommendations  
12. Produce detailed reports and presentations to aid in field communications and education
13. Work with all levels of management to ensure ongoing staffing objectives are met
14. Ensure consistent treatment of employees establishing an overall positive work environment

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelor’s degree in business, transportation, or engineering or other quantitative discipline or equivalent work experience
• Ten (10) years of multi-modal transportation, intermodal and/or transportation/operations experience in which five (5) years must be in a management capacity 
* Experience in developing transportation/operational solutions, managing spend, performing optimization and driving profitability
* Proven ability to effectively manage a diverse operation / work force
* Ability to collaborate effectively with different levels across the organization
* Detail oriented, well organized, and ability to multi-task in a results-oriented environment 
* Thorough knowledge of OSHA safety regulations; Operations/Transportation environment regulations; Federal Motor Carrier Safety Requirements 
* Demonstrated leadership and team building skills
* Strong customer and people development skills.
* Strong problem solving, project management and analytical skills
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills    
* Proven strategic planning capabilities to develop short- and long-term business improvement plans
* Outstanding computer skills

WORKING CONDITIONS:

* Extensive travel required
