Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development planning for team members
- Build and maintain a high-performing engineering team through effective hiring, onboarding, and retention practices
- Promote knowledge sharing and best practices across the team
Technical Delivery
- Oversee the design, development, and delivery of scalable, cloud-ready retail software solutions
- Partner with Product Management, Architecture, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Ensure code quality, maintainability, and adherence to engineering standards through code reviews and technical guidance
- Drive continuous improvement in development processes, tools, and methodologies
- Manage technical debt and ensure long-term platform sustainability
Project & Process Management
- Plan and execute on project roadmaps, ensuring timely delivery of features and releases
- Facilitate agile ceremonies and promote agile best practices within the team
- Identify and mitigate technical risks and project dependencies
- Provide regular status updates to senior leadership on project progress, team health, and key metrics
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including Product, QA, DevOps, and Implementation Services
- Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Collaborate with other engineering managers to align on standards, practices, and platform initiatives
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 7+ years of software development experience
- 2+ years of people management experience leading software development teams
- Strong technical background in modern software development practices and technologies
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and cloud-native architectures
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript
- Deep understanding of software development lifecycle, agile methodologies, and DevOps practices
- Proven track record of delivering complex software projects on time and with quality
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities and technical decision-making skills
