Job Description

Want to work on critical systems that serve millions of users every day?

At Q-Tech, we're hiring for a leading European retail tech group, a major player in e-commerce, cloud, cybersecurity, and data, with its own hub in Barcelona.

You'll join a team managing real-time stock availability for a large-scale e-commerce platform.

What you'll find:
- Modern stack: Java (Spring Boot) + Kotlin (Ktor), active migration in progress
- Vue.js frontend
- Cloud-native environment: GCP, Docker, Kubernetes
- Small team (6 people) with a real voice in technical decisions
- International exposure, direct collaboration with teams in Germany
- Hybrid model, approx. 8 office days/month (Pl. Catalunya area)

What we're looking for:

Technical
- 4+ years of experience as a Backend/FullStack Engineer
- Solid hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot
- Kotlin experience (or strong interest and ability to ramp up quickly, since the team is migrating)
- Comfortable with frontend work in Vue.js / TypeScript (secondary focus, approx. 30% of the role)
- Experience with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL
- Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes, and comfort navigating production incidents
- Familiarity with GCP or another major cloud provider
- Experience writing unit, integration, and E2E tests; TDD is a plus, not a requirement
- English level B2-C1 (daily communication with teams in Germany)

Soft skills
- Ownership mindset: comfortable owning a feature end-to-end, from design to production
- Strong communication skills to work closely with product owners and cross-functional teams
- Proactive attitude: willing to propose ideas and challenge technical decisions, not just execute tasks
- Comfortable working in a small, close-knit team with direct visibility and responsibility
- Adaptability to work across a partially legacy, partially modern stack during an active migration
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation for a critical system

Job conditions
- Contract type: permanent, full-time
- Work model: hybrid, approx. 8 office days/month (Pl. Catalunya area), flexible scheduling
- On-call rotation: one week every 3-4 weeks for the team's critical system, compensated separately (standby pay plus a higher rate for any active intervention)
- Benefits: flexible compensation (meal vouchers, transport), private health insurance, remote-work allowance, wellbeing budget, language classes, training and development support
