This position is full time on site in Chantilly, VA and requires the candidate hold an active DoD secret clearance. This position is currently in a trial where employees can work remote one day a pay period. At the end of the trial (date TBD), it may remain as is, may expand to two days a pay period, or may eliminate remote work completely.
The shift for this position is 6am to 6pm and operates on a shift of three days on, then three days off. On the candidates start date, they will know 100% what days they will work for the remainder of 2026 as the schedule is set for the entire year. Accelera Solutions is seeking a versatile, well-rounded Network Engineer to support the End User Monitoring Operation Center (EUMOC). In this role, you will act as the C2 (Command and Control) for the EITaaS contract with the Department of the Air Force (DAF). You will help provide a common set of required enterprise IT services across 187+ bases, ensuring a consistent, high-quality experience that enables the EITaaS DAF to focus on mission operations.
As a critical member of the EUMOC operating in a 24/7 secure environment, you will blend your practical IT and network engineering knowledge with operational watch duties. You will work closely with the EUMOC Watch Officer, who serves as the primary shift lead. A major focus of this role is proactive monitoring, supporting Major Incident responses, and acting as the C2 liaison for DAF Enterprise IT incidents. While this is not a permanent lead position, you must be prepared to step in and act as the Watch Officer when required.
Core Responsibilities
EUMOC Operations & Major Incident C2
•Use Microsoft Teams as the primary collaboration platform to coordinate response efforts with various lines of business during day-to-day operations and outages.
•Partner with the EUMOC Watch Officer to maintain operational awareness of EUMOC C2 activities.
•Operate within assigned daily rotating roles (Change Manager / Order Manager / Alert Manager / Incident Manager / Communications Manager)
•Step in as the acting Watch Officer when required to facilitate shift handoffs, manage scheduling, and host daily sync meetings.
•Support the C2 liaison functions between engineering teams and impacted parties during Major Incidents, ensuring seamless communication and rapid resolution.
•Manage and track Major Incidents, providing clear, concise updates to senior DAF leadership and affected stakeholders during enterprise outages.
•Send official communications on behalf of EITaaS to notify the DAF of approved changes, scheduled maintenance, or active incidents.
Documentation & SOP Development
•Develop, write, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to establish clear workflows as new technologies, tools, and operational procedures are implemented.
Proactive Monitoring & Well-Rounded IT Support
•Monitor application and service alerts using the proprietary Honeycomb monitoring tool, notifying the appropriate Line of Business to ensure rapid remediation.
•Actively monitor ServiceNow dashboards for incoming alerts and escalated tickets, routing them to the correct Line of Business and tracking progress through to resolution.
•Utilize ServiceNow as the primary ITSM platform to manage, track, and resolve master incident tickets.
•Collaborate with diverse technical teams to identify root causes across systems, the DoD Azure cloud, and virtualization environments.
•Mentor junior technicians and guide them through multidisciplinary IT troubleshooting.
Network Engineering Advisory & Oversight
•Support and optimize environments heavily integrated with the DoD Azure Cloud and Office 365, treating cloud health and connectivity as a top priority.
•Guide the implementation and support of Zero Trust network architectures.
•Leverage practical, hands-on networking experience with complex WAN, LAN, voice, video, and wireless networks to advise resolving teams and guide troubleshooting efforts in a C2 capacity.
•Provide technical oversight and subject matter expertise to evaluate and advise on network modernization and software defined networking (SDN) initiatives.
Qualifications
Experience
•HIGH PRIORITY: Extensive understanding and hands on experience operating within the DoD Azure Cloud environment and Office 365.
•10+ Years of relevant IT or Networking experience (or a Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years).
•5+ Years working as an Engineer supporting complex enterprise environments.
•Proven track record of managing Major Incidents, utilizing monitoring tools, and acting as a liaison between technical resolving groups and external organizations during critical outages.
•Experience developing technical documentation and SOPs.
Technical Skills
•HIGH PRIORITY: Proficiency in ServiceNow for ITSM operations, dashboard monitoring, and Major Incident management.
•HIGH PRIORITY: Strong skills utilizing Microsoft Teams for enterprise collaboration, chat, and channel coordination during daily use and critical outages.
•Deep understanding of Zero Trust principles and how they apply to DoD IT environments.
•Experience tracking alerts with proprietary or enterprise monitoring tools (Honeycomb, Splunk, etc.).
•Understanding Microsoft enterprise services such as Azure Virtual Desktop, Intune, Defender for Endpoint, Microsoft Endpoint Manager, etc.
•Practical knowledge of modern networking platforms (Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, Palo Alto, F5) to effectively advise engineering teams.
Environment
•Proven ability to thrive in a mission critical NOC or SOC environment.
•Flexible, decisive problem solver comfortable working a 12 hour permanently assigned Panama shift. (Schedule is set for the entire year)
Desired Skills & Certifications
•Security: Security+ or CISSP (DoD 8570 or 8140 compliance), experience with DISA STIG and CTO.
•Networking: Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, JNCIP, Network+.
•Operations: ITIL Foundations certification v4 is a plus.
•Emerging Tech: Knowledge of Software Defined Networking, Zero Trust, and other emerging technologies.
