SUMMARY
This position posting runs on a continuous open cycle and creates a pool of candidates for consideration when part-time employment is available. The purpose of this position is to provide a comprehensive employability training program to the inmate population at Gaston and/or Lincolnton Correctional Institutions. The position is responsible for teaching classes and instructing, preparing lesson plans and comprehending assessments in all areas of job search preparation and retention. Knowledge in job readiness, basic computer operations, money management and community resources are preferred. Daytime and evening flexibility required. Perform related work as required.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop/approve class schedule(s) under the direction of the Coordinator of Workforce Development and department staff as requested.
- Maintain accurate records (such as attendance, grades, documentation, etc.) and submit any corresponding reports according to departmental or college guidelines.
- Provide effective instruction to students at prison location by preparing for each learning experience and using effective evaluation methods to measure student performance.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge within the teaching field, and of software used for class delivery.
- Participate in departmental and divisional orientation and training sessions.
MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
