This is a hands-on technical leadership role. You’ll define architecture, make critical technical decisions, write production code, mentor engineers across multiple teams, and work directly with senior client stakeholders.
What You’ll Do
- Own the technical architecture and engineering direction across multiple delivery pods.
- Design and evolve scalable, secure solutions using Java, Spring Boot, Angular, Go, MySQL, and AWS.
- Write production code on critical-path features and contribute to complex technical challenges.
- Lead architectural reviews, technical discovery, modernization, and technical debt initiatives.
- Establish engineering standards around API design, observability, security, testing, and CI/CD.
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance.
- Serve as the primary technical liaison with client engineering leadership.
- Partner with data engineering teams around Redshift, dbt, and Airflow integrations.
- Lead responsible adoption and governance of AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code and GitHub Copilot.
- Help identify and prototype AI capabilities that can deliver real value in a regulated environment.
What You Bring
Required:
- 10+ years of software engineering experience.
- 3+ years in a Principal, Staff, or Distinguished Engineer role.
- Strong production expertise with Java and Spring Boot.
- Strong AWS architecture and cloud engineering experience.
- Experience with Angular and modern frontend architecture.
- Strong knowledge of REST APIs, API governance, versioning, and integrations.
- Experience owning CI/CD pipelines, preferably GitLab CI.
- Experience working in SOC 2 or other regulated/compliance-driven environments.
- Proven experience leading technical discovery and onboarding onto existing production platforms.
- Strong mentoring and technical leadership skills.
Nice to Have
- Go experience.
- Playwright and strong automated testing practices.
- Redshift, dbt, and Apache Airflow.
- Curity / OAuth 2.0 or enterprise identity platforms.
- Healthcare, pharmaceutical, government, or financial services experience.
- Experience implementing AI coding tools and governance across engineering teams.
- Knowledge of GS1 standards, 2D barcodes, or pharmaceutical supply chain systems.
