Key Responsibilities

Process & Equipment

  • Learn and continuously improve manufacturing processes; support and troubleshoot process equipment (extrusion, vacuum forming, injection molding, printing, labeling)
  • Assist technicians in diagnosing and resolving equipment and process issues
  • Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for equipment and processes
  • Create test parameters and lead testing, data analysis, and implementation of process, equipment, and engineering solutions

Continuous Improvement & Project Leadership

  • Lead a continuous improvement team focused on improving Yield Efficiency (OEE) in the department of focus
  • Establish and manage continuous improvement plans that raise efficiency, quality, safety, or service levels
  • Lead capital projects from planning through execution, including budgeting, scheduling, and coordination with vendors and contractors
  • Manage, prioritize, and complete projects/programs of moderate to large size, scope, and duration, coordinating with engineers, technicians, other stakeholders, and plant floor teams
  • Lead process failure discussions and investigations to ensure consistent solutions across all Departments
  • Translate broad, conceptual ideas into practical, actionable solutions

Leadership & Safety

  • Ensure safe work practices are followed at all times
  • Lead by example as a hands-on leader; mentor team members on best practices
  • Perform all duties in accordance with Growscape values
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

 

Qualifications and Experience



Education




  • Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) in Chemical, Materials, or Mechanical Engineering (or related field)



Experience




  • Continuous improvement experience, including LEAN and Six Sigma

  • Experience analyzing production equipment, processes, and materials to diagnose and resolve issues

  • Knowledge of statistical and quality methodologies, including SPC, 5S, 5 Why, FMEA, DOE, and Root Cause Analysis

  • Preferred: experience with plastic processes and equipment (injection molding, thermoforming)

  • Preferred: knowledge of raw materials, material properties, and their impact on plastic processing



Technical Skills




  • Strong chemical and mechanical aptitude, preferably in the plastics industry

  • Practical knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, and equipment as applied to design and production

  • Proficiency with CAD

  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

  • Ability to travel up to 10% as required
