This role is the primary operational engineering resource for Process Control & Automation (PC&A) systems within HRPF. Working closely with Operations, Quality, Process Models, Maintenance, and Automation teams, this position monitors process performance, product quality, and mill health to support safe, stable, and efficient operation.

Serving as the first line of technical support during production, this position monitors Level 2 process models, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), process health monitoring tools, and manufacturing data to identify abnormal conditions, perform initial technical investigations, implement approved process adjustments within established authority, and coordinate issue resolution with the appropriate technical teams.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of Level 1 systems, Level 2 process models, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and other Process Control & Automation systems supporting mill operations.
  • Monitor process models, control systems, and manufacturing data to maintain process stability, product quality, and overall mill health.
  • Implement approved mill setup adjustments, including primary data (PDI) modifications within established operating limits, to maintain process stability and product quality.
  • Review upcoming production schedules to identify technical risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Support Process Models and Quality teams through process analysis, operational feedback, technical investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Execute, monitor, and evaluate process trials while communicating results and operational observations.
  • Develop technical reports, trend analyses, and performance summaries supporting operational and engineering decision-making.
  • Serve as the primary operational owner of process monitoring systems by identifying abnormal conditions, validating system outputs, and recommending enhancements that improve process visibility and decision-making.
  • Support Level 2 models, MES, and related production systems by monitoring performance, troubleshooting operational issues, and coordinating technical resolution.
  • Develop engineering documentation, change notices, and technical recommendations supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide first-line technical support for Process Control & Automation systems and coordinate with Operations, Automation, Maintenance, and Quality to resolve process-related issues.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of industrial automation, process models, and manufacturing systems.
  • Ability to interpret manufacturing data and recognize abnormal process conditions.
  • Experience with structured root cause investigations and continuous improvement.
  • Effective communication across Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Automation, and Engineering.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with manufacturing data analysis tools is preferred.
