Position Summary:
Manages the entire life cycle of permits and construction start rollouts, serving as the primary liaison between the company, contractors, and government agencies. Ensures all documentation is accurate, compliant with local codes and regulations, and submitted on time to help prevent project delays. Key responsibilities include permit application and submission, utility coordination, liaison and communication, permit tracking and compliance, and administration and recordkeeping.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit plot plans, lot inspections, and building permits to various municipalities in accordance with construction schedules and deadlines.
- Research, prepare, and submit permit applications, plans, and required documentation to applicable government agencies.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between contractors, architects, engineers, and municipal departments, including Planning, Building, and Public Works, and respond to inquiries promptly.
- Monitor the status of building permits, renewals, and approvals to ensure projects remain compliant with applicable regulations and timelines.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of permits, approvals, plan revisions, fees, and other construction-related documentation.
- Assist the Starts Department with uploading required documents into shared house folders.
- Submit water meter setup applications and coordinate related requirements.
- Prepare and submit check requests and payments for permits, water taps, impact fees, and other applicable municipal fees.
- Maintain professional and courteous relationships with municipal departments and staff, conducting all business in a professional and ethical manner that supports customer service and the companys reputation.
- Monitor the complete building permit approval process for assigned communities across various municipalities.
- Distribute approved construction documents to the Purchasing, Marketing, Design, Sales, and Construction departments.
- Process and document plan revisions and coordinate required timelines with affected departments.
- Scan and upload approved permitting documentation into the appropriate shared folders.
- Save construction documents received from the field to the shared drive and applicable house folders.
- Provide administrative support to the Construction Department as needed.
- Communicate changes to permit fees, utility connection fees, impact fees, and other municipal fees to the Division Accounting Department.
Key Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of one year of permitting experience preferred.
- Previous experience with a homebuilder, contractor, or construction supplier highly desirable.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Excel.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external business partners.

Physical Requirements:
This is primarily a sedentary position. Requires the ability to hear, type and talk. Finger dexterity is required to operate a computer keyboard. The primary work location is a corporate office with low to moderate noise levels. Appropriate business apparel and professional appearance are expected.
