Job description

Company Description:

TED is a global nonprofit dedicated to spreading ideas that matter — through talks, conferences, and experiences that connect and inspire. Our events bring together diverse voices to share ideas that shape the future.

TED is an equal opportunity employer and contractor engager committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and provide reasonable accommodation throughout the hiring process.

Job Description:

The Program Coordinator, Audience Development & Community supports the planning and execution of TED conference attendee community projects. The role blends research, database and email administration, program coordination and communications support. As a member of the Audience Development and Community team, you'll handle the detailed, ongoing work that supports community development within the TED conference ecosystem. You're highly efficient and organized, comfortable managing shifting priorities across multiple programs, and take pride in detail-oriented work. This is a ~7-month engagement from September 2026 to March 2027, with the possibility of extension.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct audience curation research and administrative support for TED conferences and community programs.
  • Maintain and organize internal Airtable databases for audience curation programs.
  • Support conference and other event communications for key community groups in the TED ecosystem, including list management, drafting and sending invitations.
  • Offer premium customer support to event attendees, including high-profile guests such as industry leaders, public figures, and their representatives via email with promptness and professionalism. Escalate any sensitive issues and/or unusual requests to team leadership for coordination of the response.
  • Assist in administrative and communications tasks for the Audience Development and Community team as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Degree (preferred) or diploma in communications, business administration, or similar experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in research, administrative support, coordination, and/or communications roles. Prior events experience an asset.
  • Comfortable with databases and tools like Airtable, Google Workspace, and Zendesk (or similar); tech-savvy, quick to learn new systems, with AI experience a plus.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented; able to juggle multiple projects with competing deadlines, re-prioritize, and solve problems independently.
  • Strong communicator and team player who manages high email volume under time pressure and proactively drives work forward.
Additional Information:
  • Must be authorized to work in Canada.
  • Ability to travel internationally is required.
