Job description

About the Department

Performs duties as lead project professional to coordinate direct professional services to students or clients; develops materials and procedures; maintains contacts with professionals in other areas.   Performs normal supervisory functions.   Facilitates the St. Louis Community College’s Bank of America Grant Program, a program that is designed to support closing the wealth gap by providing access and support to higher education that will enable students to acquire jobs in high growth and promising Information Technology industries.

Position Duties

  • Lead the delivery of professional services to students and clients in specific project areas, such as counseling, training, job development, vocational assessment, or accounting.
  • Utilize digital tools and platforms to enhance service delivery.
  • Manage budget for Technical Academy programming.
  • Create and implement innovative materials and procedures to optimize the effectiveness and efficiency of project personnel.
  • Incorporate best practices and emerging technologies in project management and service delivery.
  • May supervise part-time personnel as required.
  • Actively participate in committees to contribute to the development and implementation of institutional strategies and policies.
  • Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration to achieve project goals.
  • Support students in CIT Technical Academy program.
  • Produce retention strategies and activities to support and retain students to completion.
  • May oversee and coordinate with related IT program(s) (e.g. Access Point) to align program objectives with Technical Academy and support enrollment.
  • Creates and sustains partnerships with community organizations to provide workforce needs.
  • Collaborate with College and industry partners, including faculty, to create community-building events and career transitions for students in the programs.
  • Partner with the Office of Financial Aid and the Foundation Office to provide support for both direct and indirect costs for students within the Technical Academy.
  • Provide intentional and proactive case management to students in the program.
  • Educate students on their academic standing and provide advice on building and maintaining a plan towards good academic standing.
  • Draw upon the services of Student and Academic Affairs units to assist students in resolving problems.
  • Track students and assess effectiveness of initiatives.
  • Work with Enrollment Services and DCDE (Dual Credit/Dual Enrollment) to recruit students into the program.
  • Maintain and expand contacts with professionals in other areas to facilitate referrals, collaboration, and problem resolution.
  • Engage with professional organizations and online communities to stay current with industry trends.
  • Collaborate with College partners, including faculty, to create community-building events for students in the program.
  • Assess effectiveness of initiatives.
  • Work with Student Affairs staff to help with reducing barriers that students may face in completing their program of study.
  • Coordinate and work with the Student Success Advisors, Office of Career Development, the Employer Engagement Team, and others to ensure internships and job placement rates for graduates of the Technical Academy.
  • Perform supervisory duties including training, instructing, and assigning work to project personnel.
  • Provide performance evaluations, recommend transfers, promotions, wage increases, and handle terminations.
  • Manage staffing needs, including arranging for additional help or overtime, as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies, safety rules, and regulations.
  • Utilize data management systems to track project progress, outcomes, and impact.
  • Prepare and present reports to stakeholders, highlighting key achievements and areas for improvement.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in project processes and services.   Implement feedback mechanisms to gather input from students, clients, and staff, and use this data to enhance service quality.
  • Integrate modern technology solutions to streamline project operations and improve service delivery.  
  • Stay informed about technological advancements and assess their applicability to project needs.
  • Oversee the preparation, submission, and management of grant proposals and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with grant requirements, including tracking and documenting expenditures, outcomes, and impacts.
  • Manage and/or oversee program budgets, including planning, monitoring, and reporting on financial activities.
  • Ensure project expenditures align with budgetary constraints and institutional policies.
  • Identify and address any financial discrepancies.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Prepare reports as needed.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned, adapting to changing project requirements and organizational needs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent and over three (3) years of relevant full-time experience.
