About the Role:

e-STORAGE is seeking an experienced Project EHS Lead to support our Canadian operations across the full lifecycle of Battery Energy Storage System projects, from design and construction through commissioning and ongoing operations and maintenance. Acting as a key EHS partner to our Project Implementation, Engineering and Service teams, you will provide practical guidance, support compliance with applicable Canadian occupational health, safety and environmental requirements, and drive continuous improvement across project sites.

This is a hands-on role involving hazard assessments, project EHS planning, contractor oversight, site inspections, incident investigation and the continued development of a strong safety culture. You will also help embed EHS considerations into the development and deployment of our proprietary SolBank technology.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a primary EHS point of contact for Canadian BESS projects, with a strong focus on supporting project activities in Ontario

  • Provide practical EHS advice and support to project teams, ensuring compliance with applicable federal, provincial and local requirements, as well as company standards

  • Review and contribute to project-specific EHS plans, risk assessments and method statements, job hazard and job safety analyses, safe work procedures, emergency response plans and contractor safety documentation

  • Conduct site inspections, audits, observations and toolbox talks to reinforce safe work practices, identify areas of risk and encourage workforce engagement

  • Support incident and near-miss investigations, root cause analysis, and the development and implementation of corrective and preventive actions

  • Collaborate with Project Implementation, Engineering and Service teams to embed safety into the design, construction, commissioning and operation of BESS installations

  • Evaluate contractor, subcontractor and supplier EHS performance, and support the management of identified risks, corrective actions and compliance concerns

  • Promote a positive EHS culture throughout the organization and its contractor and supplier network

  • Support environmental compliance activities, including spill prevention and response, waste-management practices and site environmental controls, as applicable

  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of EHS programs, standards, procedures and global best practices

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • At least five years of progressive EHS experience within energy, construction, utilities, industrial services or another complex project-based environment

  • Educational background or recognized training in occupational health and safety, environmental management, engineering, construction management or a related discipline

  • Strong working knowledge of Ontario occupational health and safety legislation, including requirements applicable to construction projects, with the ability to interpret and apply requirements across other Canadian jurisdictions

  • A recognized health and safety certification or designation is preferred. This may include CRSP, CRST, NCSO, QHSO, NEBOSH or a comparable Canadian or international qualification

  • Experience reviewing project EHS plans, hazard assessments, job hazard or job safety analyses, safe work procedures, method statements and contractor safety documentation

  • Demonstrated experience conducting site inspections and audits and assessing the EHS performance of contractors, subcontractors and suppliers

  • Experience supporting incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective and preventive action planning

  • Experience within battery energy storage, renewable energy, electrical infrastructure or power-generation environments is considered an asset

  • Willingness and ability to travel to project sites across Canada, as required
