JOB OVERVIEW
The Project Engineer – Electro/Mechanical/Instrumentation (E/M/I) supports the planning, coordination, execution, and monitoring of all electro-mechanical and instrumentation works within a pumped storage hydropower project. The role focuses on ensuring proper installation, integration, testing, and commissioning of key systems such as hydro turbines, generators, transformers, substations, automation, instrumentation, and balance-of-plant systems.
THE ROLE
- Support the execution of electrical, instrumentation, and control works from design review through commissioning.
- Review electrical drawings, instrumentation diagrams, control schematics, P&IDs, and system philosophies.
- Assist in coordination and supervision of installation works for electrical systems, instrumentation devices, and control systems.
- Support SCADA integration, testing, and commissioning activities (dry test, wet test, loop checks, and system functional testing).
- Conduct site inspections for electrical and instrumentation works across hydropower, water treatment plants, substations, and related facilities.
- Assist in QA/QC implementation including preparation and review of Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), Quality Plans, and checklists.
- Monitor contractor compliance with design specifications, safety requirements, and project quality standards.
- Support troubleshooting and technical resolution during installation, testing, and plant start-up activities.
- Assist in preparation of daily site reports, progress monitoring, inspection reports, and project documentation.
- Coordinate with civil, mechanical, electrical, and automation teams to ensure proper system integration.
- Participate in risk assessments and technical evaluations to prevent site and commissioning issues.
- Witness testing activities for electrical and instrumentation systems including SCADA, protection systems, and plant automation.
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards such as PEC, IEC, IEEE, ISA, and project-specific requirements.
- Provide technical support to engineers and site teams during construction and commissioning phases.
Requirements
THE INDIVIDUAL
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering; PRC Registered Electrical Engineer.
- 5–7 years of experience in Electrical, Instrumentation & Control works.
- Strong background in SCADA, testing & commissioning, and QA/QC inspection.
- Experience in hydropower, water treatment, substations, or industrial energy projects.
- Knowledge of electrical and instrumentation installation and site coordination.
- Familiar with IEC, IEEE, and Philippine Electrical Code standards.
- Proficient in MS Office; AutoCAD knowledge is an advantage.
- Strong coordination, reporting, and site execution skills.
