About Us
Joined Alloys, a division of Leading Edge Manufacturing (LEM), is headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona. Since 1959, LEM has been a trusted name in the aerospace, precision machining, and defense industries. Originally founded as Maximet, Inc. and rebranded as Leading Edge Manufacturing in 2017, we specialize in complex manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal fabrication, brazing, heat treating, welding, and non-destructive testing. With AS9100D, ISO9001, and NADCAP certifications, we deliver high-quality precision components and sub-assemblies across multiple industries.

Job Title: Quality Engineer (CMM, FAIRS, PPAP, GD&T, Quality Improvements)

Position Overview:
As a Quality Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring product quality, driving process improvements, and managing quality control activities across the manufacturing process. You will use your expertise in Mitutoyo and Brown & Sharp CMMs with CMM Magarer, as well as your skills in FAIRS, PPAP, Cpk, and GD&T, to ensure that all products meet or exceed customer and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program and operate CMMs with CMM Manager software to conduct precise measurements and dimensional inspections of components and assemblies.
  • Prepare and review First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) and ensure they meet customer specifications.
  • Lead and support the preparation of PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation, ensuring compliance with customer requirements.
  • Perform statistical analysis, including Cpk and other capability studies, to assess and improve process performance and product quality.
  • Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles to interpret engineering drawings and develop accurate inspection plans.
  • Drive quality improvements by identifying root causes of defects, implementing corrective actions, and enhancing manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and maintain final inspection procedures, ensuring products meet specifications before release to customers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and supply chain, to resolve quality issues and improve overall product quality.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, AS9100, NADCAP, customer-specific requirements, and industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of inspection results, process improvements, and quality control activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a quality engineering role, including hands-on experience with CMM programming.
  • Strong knowledge of FAIRS, PPAP, Cpk, statistical process control (SPC), and quality improvement methodologies.
  • Proficiency in GD&T and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (RCA/CAPA).
  • Familiarity with final inspection processes, documentation, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Understanding of quality systems and standards, including ISO 9001.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation
  • Comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- & long-term disability, 401(k))
  • Paid holidays and vacation time
  • Career growth and professional development opportunities
  • A supportive, collaborative work environment focused on teamwork and excellence
