Peraton is seeking a React Software Developer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is located in Herndon, VA. The qualified applicant will become part of Peraton's Department of State (DOS) Consular Systems Modernization (CSM) Program, for the Bureau of Diplomatic Technology (DT). This initiative is intended to modernize and consolidate the operational environment under a common technology framework in order to better support the services provided to CA’s customers.
As part of the modernization program, the React Software Developer will play a key role in delivering front-end solutions across the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including contributing to requirements analysis, developing prototypes, implementing user-centric designs, coding responsive interfaces, conducting thorough testing, and supporting ongoing maintenance of mission-critical applications. Roles and Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain scalable front-end applications using React, Redux, and related technologies.
- Collaborate with designers and developers to ensure high performance and scalability of applications.
- Proactively identify and address any potential risks to project success.
- Integrate front-end components with RESTful APIs and back-end services.
- Collaborate with back-end developers to integrate front-end components with server-side logic.
- Troubleshoot and debug issues that arise during deployment and post deployment.
- Optimize components for maximum performance across a wide range of devices and browsers.
- Translate UI/UX designs and wireframes into high-quality code that meets 508 accessibility standards.
- Ensure code quality and adherence to coding standards.
- Support CI/CD pipelines and version control using Git and DevOps tools.
- Provide production support and troubleshoot issues in deployed applications.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and at least eight (8) years’ experience in software development.
- 4 years of experience with front-end development and at least 2 years focused heavily on React.
- Proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript.
- Deep understanding of React core principles, including React Hooks, functional components, and the virtual DOM.
- Experience in HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design principles.
- Experience with state management libraries (Redux, Context API).
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs and asynchronous programming.
- Experience with security best practices and modern authorization mechanisms such as JSON Web Token.
- Experience with front-end testing frameworks like Jest, React Testing Library, or Cypress.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have an Active Secret (or higher) clearance. Interim clearances are acceptable.
- US Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments using tools like Jira, Confluence, or Azure DevOps.
- Experience with modern React frameworks like Next.js.
- Familiarity with deploying front-end applications in containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Exposure to back-end technologies (e.g.: Node.js, Java, .NET) to support API integration and full-stack collaboration.
- Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and deployment strategies.
- Experience integrating with identity management and authentication systems (OAuth2, SAML).

$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
