Roadway Project Manager / 1620

Job Description

The duties of this position include preparing detailed engineering designs and overseeing the work of technicians in preparing plans for roadway and drainage design work using TxDOT and/or AASHTO standards. 

Responsibilities: (include but not limited to) 

  • Designing horizontal and vertical geometry, roadway sections, intersection layouts and sight distance determination, interchange layouts, signing and pavement marking plans, traffic control plans, roadway drainage, temporary erosion control, and right of way plans.
  • Preparing and overseeing Plans, Specifications and Estimates.
  • Assisting in the management of larger projects or manage smaller projects that involve preparing scopes, schedules and budgets, and include the following management work elements.
  • Communicating daily (verbal and written) with the client, support and advise EITs and technical staff, act in an advisory capacity to senior management on engineering related matters, write reports and technical memos, compose meeting minutes, and coordinating with sub-consultants.
  • Providing the seal and signature as a professional engineer, as appropriate, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and ordinances.
  • Working on TxDOT Design Projects Preferred.

Requirements: 

  • Texas P.E.
  • BSCE and professional engineer license
  • 7+ years’ experience having performed geometric design of roadways, preparing plans and specifications, and computing quantities and design construction estimates. 
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with AASHTO Green Book, TxDOT Roadway Design Manual, TxDOT Roadside Design Guide, TxDOT Hydraulic Manual, and Texas MUTCD
  • Successful candidate must be capable of acting as a supervisory engineer or deputy to Project Manager and work independently with minimal guidance.
  • Proficiency with Microstation and Openroads.
  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering
