This is a remote position.
If you're someone who enjoys building automation that genuinely adds value rather than simply maintaining brittle test suites, this could be worth a look.
We're looking for an experienced Test Automation Engineer to join an established engineering team, helping improve the quality and reliability of a modern software platform.
This role is heavily focused around Python-based automation, API testing and integrating automated testing into CI pipelines. You'll work closely with developers, Product Owners and DevOps engineers, helping ensure quality is built into the delivery process from the outset.
What you'll be doing
You'll be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining automated test frameworks, with a particular focus on API and integration testing.
Your day-to-day work will include:
- Building and maintaining automated test frameworks in Python
- Developing automated functional, regression and API test suites
- Testing REST APIs using modern tooling and frameworks
- Integrating automated tests into CI pipelines
- Investigating defects and working alongside developers to resolve them
- Improving automation coverage and identifying opportunities to make testing more efficient
- Supporting broader testing activities where required, including smoke, integration and end-to-end testing
- Contributing as part of an Agile delivery team
What we're looking for
You'll already have solid commercial experience building automation frameworks rather than simply executing automated tests.
We're particularly interested in people with experience of:
- Python test automation
- API testing using tools such as Pytest, Requests or Postman
- Building and maintaining automation frameworks
- Continuous Integration tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or Azure DevOps
- Git version control
- Agile delivery environments
It would also be useful if you've worked with SQL, database testing, reporting tools such as Allure, or microservices-based applications, although these aren't essential.
You'll probably enjoy this role if you...
- Like solving technical problems
- Take pride in building maintainable automation
- Enjoy working closely with developers
- Look for ways to improve quality rather than simply finding defects
- Can work independently while remaining a collaborative member of the wider engineering team
