This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer (Python + Django) based in Brazil.

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a key role in building and evolving a scalable backend platform that supports innovative privacy-focused products. Working in a fully remote and highly collaborative environment, you will contribute to the design, development, and optimization of core services while partnering closely with experienced engineers and technical leadership. • Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Python and Django to support customer-facing applications and platform capabilities.
• Build new product features while ensuring code quality, scalability, security, and long-term maintainability.
• Optimize asynchronous processing pipelines using Celery, RabbitMQ, and Redis to improve system performance and reliability.
• Develop and maintain integrations with third-party services, including payment providers, authentication platforms, and external APIs.
• Participate actively in code reviews, providing constructive feedback while maintaining high engineering standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design technical solutions, troubleshoot production issues, and continuously improve system architecture.
• Contribute to technical discussions, system design decisions, and engineering best practices within a remote-first development environment.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience building production-grade web applications.
• At least 3 years of professional experience developing backend applications with Python and Django.
• Hands-on experience with Celery, RabbitMQ, Redis, and asynchronous processing in production environments.
• Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, concurrency, SQL, database design, and distributed systems.
• Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs, with knowledge of Django REST Framework (DRF) and/or django-ninja considered a strong advantage.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL performance optimization, query analysis, and database tuning.
• Experience integrating third-party services such as Stripe, WorkOS SSO, or similar authentication and payment platforms.
• Working knowledge of AWS, Kubernetes, and modern cloud-native development practices is desirable.
• Familiarity with frontend technologies such as HTMX or React is a plus.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools and coding assistants is beneficial.
• Excellent written English communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in an asynchronous, distributed team.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership of complex technical initiatives.
