Information Services seeks a Senior Data Integration Developer to support and extend our Ellucian Colleague ERP ecosystem, including the ongoing Colleague SaaS migration, Ethos API integrations, and institutional reporting infrastructure. This role partners directly with stakeholders across Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid, Business Office, and other business areas to translate business needs into reliable, well-architected data integrations and reporting solutions that support tactical and strategic decision-making across the university.
Application Development (40%)
- Design, build, and maintain integrations between various cloud, internal, and external systems using an appropriate framework, such as developing custom built services/applications, or using Ethos API, Ellucian Data Connect, and Integration Designer.
- Write functional, high quality, and often complex code to integrate cloud-based enterprise applications and internal data sources using ETL tools and/or making use of technologies such as C#, .NET, JavaScript, JSON, SQL, and SOQL.
- Develop and support web services using both Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) and Representational State Transfer (REST) protocols to enable integration across enterprise systems.
- Experience transforming languages and schemas, including XML, XSLT, XSD, and DTD.
- Build and maintain tables, views, stored procedures, and ETL pipelines feeding data lakes, warehouses, and other institutional reporting environments in SQL Server/Azure SQL and PostgreSQL environments.
- Contribute to CI/CD tooling and DevOps practices supporting the development lifecycle.
Application Support (40%)
- Support the ongoing Colleague SaaS migration, including UAT, environment troubleshooting, log analysis, and remediation of post-migration integration issues.
- Collaborate with stakeholders from Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid, Business Office, and other business units to understand business needs and translate them into technical specifications for integrations and reporting solutions.
- Support federal and institutional compliance reporting pipelines.
- Debug and resolve issues with existing integrations across the enterprise ecosystem.
- Assist with data loading, cleanup, and reconciliation of large record sets across enterprise applications (e.g., HR/payroll reconciliation, user access audits).
- Actively review and monitor reported incidents and defects; coordinate investigation, resolution, and documentation of results.
General (20%)
- Incorporate new data requirements, source systems, and reporting needs into existing data lake and warehouse environments.
- Use subject matter expertise to guide decisions on data modeling, data sourcing, data quality, and delivery approach.
- Perform complex data analysis to produce clear, well-documented data definitions.
- Maintain current knowledge of Ellucian, Salesforce, and Blackboard ecosystem developments, higher-ed data standards, and integration best practices.
Requirements
Required:
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Minimum 4 years of experience working in application development or integration teams
- Strong SQL skills, including complex queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning (SQL Server/Azure SQL)
- Experience with system integration via REST APIs, ETL/ELT pipelines, and file-based exchange (SFTP)
- Experience designing, building, or supporting data warehouse or data mart solutions
- Working knowledge of scripting/programming languages (e.g., .NET, C#, PowerShell, Python, JavaScript, JQuery)
- Strong problem-solving skills with data and software applications
- Detail-oriented and self-starter with strong written and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Preferred:
- Experience with Ellucian Colleague, Ethos API, or Data Connect (or comparable higher-ed ERP experience, e.g., Banner, PeopleSoft)
- Familiarity with higher-ed compliance reporting (IPEDS, FISAP, Title IV)
- Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, or version control workflows
Physical Requirements
- Standing, sitting, manual dexterity, ability to move between offices and floors of buildings.
- Ability to meet deadlines and perform well under pressure.
- Ability to be physically in attendance at designated worksite during scheduled work hours and to work some evenings and weekends.
- Normal range of vision and hearing (with or without correction).
