Senior DevOps Engineer (Hosted Services) 

Location: Minneapolis, MN 

Who we’re looking for: 

The Senior DevOps Engineer is part of ICF Olson’s award-winning “Infrastructure as Code” Hosting Services practice.  The engineer will deliver complex enterprise infrastructure solutions and participate in multiple functions including design, architecture, security, configuration, tuning, release management, and continuous improvement of systems.  

The Senior DevOps Engineer is a forward-thinking professional with a blended background and passion for: 

• Systems Administration: Our team designs, implements, and supports infrastructure for complex enterprise applications. We are involved in the full systems lifecycle, including tasks that go beyond basic setup – including tuning, performance optimization, and advanced troubleshooting of system health issues. 
  • Development Operations (DevOps): Our engineers provide troubleshooting services and 24x7 monitoring & support of our client systems. We work with client development teams on an ongoing basis to perform production deployments and to expand and enhance their systems using the latest in open source technology. 
    • R&D and Technical Strategy: Our team has a passion for exploring new technology, including R&D work and building of sandbox solutions using emerging technologies and an ever-growing list of open-source and vendor software solutions, including Containers\/Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes, Redis, Elasticsearch, Kafka, Memcache, Chef, Ansible, and more… 

      What you’ll get to do: 

      • Develop, maintain and optimize automated deployment, certification and testing infrastructure   

      • Build, configure and tune highly available client-facing systems  

      • Architect virtual systems based upon client needs, tasks and goals 

      • Build, create and maintain automated solutions with scripting, build systems, shared resources and other integrated systems  

      • Assist with systems deployments, upgrades and maintenance  

      • Configure and use system monitoring tools and notification\/alerting services  

      • Participate in research, concept testing and usability testing to deploy new technologies 

      • Design and manage DevOps automation via tools such as Chef and Ansible and for multiple functions including orchestrated provisioning, configuration management, patching, and backups. 

      • Architect Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD) build processes for code deployments via tools such as Jenkins and Bamboo 

      • Design and configure monitoring solutions and perform analysis of operational metrics for both system and application tiers 

      • Troubleshoot & triage problem reports as part of a 24x7x365 support rotation 

      • Provide excellent customer service in the resolution of support tickets 

        What you’ll need to succeed: 

        • 5+ years of progressive experience in Linux Systems Administration, Engineering & Scripting 

        • 2+ years of experience in an Oracle database server administration 

        • Demonstrated computing experience supporting Linux systems in a virtualized environment 

        • Experience with complex web application environments, including enterprise Java application servers 

        • Exposure to DevOps practices, including automation, configuration management, and release management 

        • Experience with Java Virtual Machine (JVM) monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting 

        • Ability to script in Go, Pearl, Ruby, Python, PHP or other modern scripting languages 

        • Experience with monitoring tools (e.g. Sensu, Nagios) 

        • Workable knowledge of Configuration Management Products (e.g. Chef, Puppet) 

        • Strong problem-solving skills with an investigative mentality, decision making ability and a capacity for strategic and associative thinking  

        • Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and tools  

        • Understanding of Continuous Integration & Continuous Delivery in the software engineering process and can clearly articulate how a DevOps \/ Systems Engineer facilitates these practices in collaboration with the Development, Quality Assurance and Technical Operations teams to drive business goals  

        • Ability to demonstrate a clear, energetic and excited interest in automating everything (build, test, release\/deploy, monitoring, reporting), which includes \"Infrastructure as Code\"  

        • Preference for collaboration, open communication and reaching across functional borders
