About the role
- Provide deep technical expertise in Naval power and energy systems, including hardware performance, physics, and component controls, and supervisory system controls
- Deliver client-facing models, simulations, and reports
- Develop, test, and validate software for supervisory control of Naval power systems
What you'll do
- Develop software to implement supervisory controls for power systems
- Support technical execution of power system modeling & simulation projects
- Build and validate models using MATLAB/Simulink
- Build and validate models for real-time simulation environments for use in hardware-in-the-loop environments
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a DoW Secret Clearance
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- 8+ years of professional experience in electrical power systems and/or microgrids
- Deep expertise with MATLAB/Simulink
- Experience with supervisory control methods for power systems, especially maritime systems (e.g., machinery control systems, electric plant control systems)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to deliver clear technical reports and concise briefings to stakeholders
Preferred Skills and qualifications:
- Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline
- 5+ years of experience in naval power systems design
- Expertise programming in Python, C++, or similar
- Deep expertise in real-time simulation & testing with Speedgoat or equivalent HIL platform
- Experience in energy storage system design, modeling, and optimization
- Expertise in laboratory testing, system integration, and data-driven validation
- Expertise in electric machines and motor drives
- Experience developing models for shipboard HM&E (hull, mechanical, and electrical) systems
- Experience with Navy customers
